# niiice
sorry TJ, I've just been told I am to be an uncle

Still not sure if this is good or bad news as my brother is pretty young

'edit' cheers all, you are all very fluffy and have made me feel good about this
'hands out celebration cake'

and sorry for taking attention away from this woo post

# Congratulations!
Lets hope it'll work out.
And lets also hope he doesn't have the starey eyes of Brandow.

# aye, cheers guv

# Mm, I know what you mean.
My friend's cousin is 16 and pregnant + engaged.
It's mad.
Her sister's also a mother at 18.
I can see it falling apart very quickly.

# Sounds intense
I felt more happy than anything else when I found out, but we'll soon see eh
(, Tue 11 Dec 2007, 23:05, archived)
# Yeah :)
In fairness, 17 "and a half" makes him sounds SO MUCH younger, I don't even know how mature the guy is.
(, Tue 11 Dec 2007, 23:12, archived)
# he looks after me when we go out drinking
but everybody's different, it just seems a tad soon to me
(, Tue 11 Dec 2007, 23:14, archived)
# Well in the end, it's his decision,
and if he thinks he's ready, then fine :)
(, Tue 11 Dec 2007, 23:21, archived)
# He may well miss out on a bit
but on the other hand, his kid'll be out of school and moved out of the house before he's even thinking about forty.

Lucky bastard.
(, Tue 11 Dec 2007, 23:04, archived)
# this is very true : )

# Don't want to be morbid
but... me & my missus lost a baby recently, age means nothing as long as you love the little bastards
(, Tue 11 Dec 2007, 23:11, archived)
# I'm sorry to hear that
and thanks, you are of course right : )
(, Tue 11 Dec 2007, 23:13, archived)
# :o) still trying
hard, real hard... mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
(, Tue 11 Dec 2007, 23:17, archived)
# I'm really sorry to hear about that.
I hope you'll be blessed with kids soon

Me & Mrs Heffrey have been blessed a few too many times, methinks. Want some?
(, Tue 11 Dec 2007, 23:14, archived)
# nah
I have my canoe disappearance plan to attend to ;0) I'm free this weekend though!

# If you're a guy
then it's pretty good.
If you were a girl, on the other hand, being called an uncle wouldn't be a very nice thing to do.

# arf!

# 17 last June
he's been with her a year, they were being careful (I'm told) and they got told tonight after 4 tests
(, Tue 11 Dec 2007, 23:02, archived)
# Well I hope it works out
If they are both sensible it should be OK.

Many people not so long ago had babies in their teens. It was the norm. My parent were. They had 6 all planned. Money was in short supply but a child doesn't really need designer clothes and expensive toys. It just needs love affection and consistency.
(, Tue 11 Dec 2007, 23:07, archived)
# ^this

# I'm 40 next year
And I need love, affection and cake. And consistency, I meant.
(, Tue 11 Dec 2007, 23:13, archived)
# Well cake needs consistency, so it still counts.
(, Tue 11 Dec 2007, 23:15, archived)
# Cake consistently
Is better than cake once in a while.
Why be shy about that?

Edit: Upon paying closer attention to what you said, let me welcome you early to the "other side". Being over 40's not so bad, except the warranty on all your moving parts expires.
(, Tue 11 Dec 2007, 23:16, archived)
# The parts are moving alright.
South.
(, Tue 11 Dec 2007, 23:23, archived)
# So long as you keep 'em moving...
then all is right with the world.

I was raped often when young. Despite my protestations she still took advantage of me. It was difficult too, I had to run like fuck to make it there and back to school at lunchtime.

# Bear in mind that you get to be that crazy cool uncle.
If it's your kid, you have to pretend to be sensible.

If it's just in your family, you can go fucking mental =]
