is that before i saw it, i thought 'tot or oh'

the only miyazaki film that works well with the overdubbing is Spirited Away.

O_O
I have seen both the dubbed version and the subtitled version and seeeriously, the subtitled one has way more oomph to it.
Bah, I fully love foreign cinema and hate to see it raped by American dubbing :(

whichever that may be. Some sort of indelible link between character and voice occurs.

They are still ACE dubbed.
Just not as ace as they are with Japanese.
It adds to the crazy and surreal vibe, I find.

i can't watch a proper film that's dubbed, but i can't be arsed reading a cartoon
akira is SO much better dubbed than subbed, and from that point on i have never bothered with subbed cartoons

but sometimes dubbing can be ace i.e patrickk stewart and alfred molina in Steamboy. sometimes it can be down right bizarre i.e. anna paquin in steamboy, playing a 12 year old mancunian boy

It probably helps that my dad is deaf and I have grown up with subtitles on the telly, so I'm mega used to reading them quickly and still paying attention to what's going on. However, I am suuuure that having films in the original language makes them miiiles better.

One of my favourite films ever.
I lovelovelove Pan's Labyrinth.
Still a huge fan of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon too...
Letters from Iwo Jima was really good but it kinda narked me that it's an American Film, just feels weird.
Have you seen Brotherhood, by any chance?

All the Korean films I've seen have been stunning. Sort of weird, in some cases, but a treat for the old noodle nonetheless.
The Host is one of the crazy ones... I'm sure it makes more sense if you're actually Korean.

i take the view that if someone genuinely cannot afford to pay to see or hear someones art then they should be allowed to see it free. i buy stuff when i can afford it and art is created to be witnessed. if it was me making a film i'd rather have people see my creation than get paid for it.

have normally already been paid before the film is shown in cinemas so the only people losing any money are the big corporations who i have no love for at all
