The original thread is here:

It was from this challenge:

(woo to all your animations, btw)

*edit* the Bindun was not your image, but one off of the popular board (the NMNE magazine one).

(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 13:21, archived)
# the post of alistair darling by the fire, its been fixed now, but means we've all still downloaded 500kb+ in our cache.....
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 13:22, archived)
# cache
ok-for a rough guide..suppose i uploaded say 250kb animations...how many of these per eight hour session would you recommend i upload, so as not to upset anyone/bandwidth/girth..
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 13:33, archived)
# As long as they are under 250kb, and you dont post new threads constantly, It wont be a problem, theres no limit on posting
But if you keep posting second after second people wont be so nice :)
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 13:39, archived)
# thats a tough question
I guess if you've made alot you could always link to them (if they're quite big) or reply to one of your posts with futher animations... but personally i try to keep replies below 100kb so the whole post totals about 250kb - but thats just me.
There is no exact answer to this question (that i'm aware of) but remember when you post something new (in a flurry) you push something else off the board
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 13:39, archived)
# optimization
is this still too large ?is this what you mean?--
just tryin'to pick up on this credit crunchhhh

# Only by the TINIEST bit
But you do seem to be listening to advice, which is good. This one's close enough to guidelines for you to get away with :)

Stick around, you're mental
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 13:17, archived)
# 250kB. 256kB is not really a lot to worry about though.
if you crop the sides of the image a wee bit that would get it down.

# What do you use to do these?
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 13:29, archived)
# resize is everything
i use gif movie gear...i can't"shrink"them but i can cut them(trouble with cutting is half the image has to be forfeited)...shrinking a whole image would be ideal
(, Wed 8 Oct 2008, 13:38, archived)
# according the garmini website (or whatever)
there is a resize option on there?

make them smaller (not as wide), reduce the colours, that sort of thing.

The humour will still come across fine
