as I understand it's very difficult to transfer something like that to the big screen without "amending" it. Sadly, I've heard about to many unnecessary changes, that by their very nature alters the whole point of the plot.

# true... I am fine with changes to make it fit, as to say, but making huge great changes to the plot seems a bit pointless.
also, it's far to big to fit into one film, much like LotR was, to I expect bits to be chopped.
