It's certainly how I've always understood it to be pronounced (as it's not originally from Watchmen).

I was looking forward to it. I had decided to just enjoy it for what it was
as I understand it's very difficult to transfer something like that to the big screen without "amending" it. Sadly, I've heard about to many unnecessary changes, that by their very nature alters the whole point of the plot.

initial reports from
movie fan boys is quite good, if you can get over yourself and accept that there will be changes.
i for one am looking forward to it as it's been in development hell for so long, also it had dave gibbons on board advising, so i have a good feeling about it.

The trouble with these things is
you can't please everyone.
If they made an adaptation that kept the fanboys quiet it would make about $5million openign weekend and then no one else would go and see it.
And fanboys will moan if their favourtie frame from the book isn't included...

true... I am fine with changes to make it fit, as to say, but making huge great changes to the plot seems a bit pointless.
also, it's far to big to fit into one film, much like LotR was, to I expect bits to be chopped.

Ningles everyone! Today my train had the fragrant odour of piss and strawberries. It was a fun ride in. That is all.
Edit: was SDM really worth that many oscars? I've not seen it, but it did sound hideously tedious.

Bandwagon my friend, bandwagon.
apparently it was a straight to DVD film in the first place.

Hmmm...
$8 million seems a little expensive for Film4 to spend on a straight to DVD movie, given they only have about $15 mill a year to spend

I'd much rather watch a heart-felt tragedy about a simple farmer who lives on Lake Titicaca
about the loss of his family, and his attempted revenge on the great lake that swallowed them, resulting in his own terrible, yet ironic, drowning, in the very same waters.

has any film ever been worth as much as it has cost to make?
worth as much as it has earned?
worth any recognition from it's peers?
I presume my tone gives away my negative opinion of each of these points.

probably one of the greatest examples of the moving image. A real triumph.
Only narrowly superceeded by Steve Martin in the Pink Panther.

I'm not really sure I understand the question though.
A film isn't worth what it cost, its worth is measured in what it gives to the public

Fair play to Boyle, he's a great director, but I've got no intention of seeing it until it's on Sky...

I prefer heart-ripping...

I think (cos I haven't seen it)
that it would have been a very different film had it been set in Britain and the USA, since it's very critical of India (i think cos I haven't seen it).

white people living in the slums of Mumbai?
not just controversial, but somewhat confusing. Although - I have often thought that a screenplay in which white/black cultures are reversed would be quite revealing, i.e.
African dictatorships such as Zimbabwe and disaster areas such as Darfur shown with white people as the victims, while the rich Black Western nations sit back and do very little about them.
