# I saw Coraline this morning in 3d
not impressed, bu the adaptation or the 3d ness.
Hat off to the animators, but it wasn't a patch on Nightmare as a whole.
(, Mon 4 May 2009, 17:27, archived)
# I keep seeing posters for that filum,
but it does have a 'generic cgi' look about it. But that's from the poster....
(, Mon 4 May 2009, 17:28, archived)
# its not cg, its stop motion
(well most of it)
(, Mon 4 May 2009, 17:29, archived)
# DIfficult to tell that from the poster, in fairness.
But ta for the tip.
(, Mon 4 May 2009, 17:30, archived)
# It does have a CGI look to it, even though I know it is stop frame
Will have to go and see it
(, Mon 4 May 2009, 17:30, archived)
# i assumed it was stop motion
like ye olden days
(, Mon 4 May 2009, 17:30, archived)
# It is stop motion, it looks like they have cleaned it up and made it look super smooth
(, Mon 4 May 2009, 17:33, archived)
# its not that smooth
and the 3d processing makes a lot of it look fuzzy and even more jittery
(, Mon 4 May 2009, 17:36, archived)
# mmm, so is it worth seeing in 3d then?
It looks smoother then your normal stop motion
(, Mon 4 May 2009, 17:38, archived)
# it's not as smooth as Nightmare if you ask me
couldn't advise either way really
(, Mon 4 May 2009, 17:39, archived)
# ok, I doubt I will end up seeing it anyway
(, Mon 4 May 2009, 17:44, archived)
# I went to see Nightmare in 3D a few years back
in Leicester Square. It looked stunnning!
(, Mon 4 May 2009, 17:40, archived)
# As it was written Neil Gaiman I will probably watch it
but I don't hold out huge hopes
(, Mon 4 May 2009, 17:29, archived)
# The fact that it is written by Neil Gaiman could be its only saving grace
(, Mon 4 May 2009, 17:31, archived)
# if you're a Gaiman fanboy you'll probably hate it
because its a much longer story with extra characters and big fancy setpieces.
Its a good example of animation skills, but the story was just a bit "meh" and 3d glasses just emphasised a bit of steam or the depth of a table - gimmicky and in no way a part of the story.
(, Mon 4 May 2009, 17:38, archived)
# Is that 3D as in with 3D glasses,
or just rendered in 3D?
(, Mon 4 May 2009, 17:29, archived)
# 3d glasses
and its stop motion not rendered
(, Mon 4 May 2009, 17:30, archived)
# Hmm.
(, Mon 4 May 2009, 17:31, archived)
# sounds great
this utube stop motion hurts my head thinking of the number of frames required
