# I just saw a fascinating docum-drama on a real life event that occured some time in the early 2000s...

...so I thought I would share a screen grab with you!

*for anyone interested, the shark pic is from this up and coming Hollywood blockbuster www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fa7ck5mcd1o *

my money's on the giant octopus...

# Part of me wants to see this film...
...and part of me will die inside if I do.

# Starship Troopers made us all laugh aloud in the cinema
but upon reflection, I think films like this are being served to do so, which is great
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:21, archived)
# Starship Troopers
deserves an oscar in comparison to Starship Troopers 3.
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:27, archived)
# You've managed to avoid 2 then?
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:30, archived)
# No, to my shame I watched some of that.
but again, it's 'gone with the wind' compared to 3.
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:35, archived)
# 3 is a good film!
I liked it!

# I declare
that you are under 20 and therefore not in possession of a brain!
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:39, archived)
# 26 actually!
And I thought 3 was a more worthy sequel than 2, so stick it mister!
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:41, archived)
# Sorry. I thought you were just young
and not mentally deficient ;)
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:45, archived)
# It's best for everyone if you deny 2's existence
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:35, archived)
# Didn't even know there was a Starship Troopers 3
Anyway, better get myself off to bed; off to see Mrs Doctor to discuss my blood results as if it's made any realistic difference in twenty years of more or less the same; the last ten without the drugs, but there you go, these guys know best. Beer=bad, apparently

# nnight mate.
I've knocked the snow on the head and drink like 10 fish still. I'm not dying yet. You'll be fine. ;) GL.

(, Sun 17 May 2009, 23:58, archived)
# i haven't got any time to watch it at the moment
www.watch-movies-links.net/movies/mega_shark_vs_giant_octopus/

i'll probably end up watching it after getting very drunk after my last exam :D
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:03, archived)
# no, seriously
it's not.
Both me and Archie have it as the worst film we saw this year.
There was a conversation about Asylum films yesterday ( they made such mockbusters as 'The Terminators' 'Transmorphers' and 'The day the earth stopped'

They make films for DVD in 21 days by ripping off whatever blockbuster is due out.

Mega shark was truly awful and I have seen some crap this year.

# Maiden
was even able to identify the CGI effects from standard off the shelf software for home PC users.

It's on the FTP, watch it if you want, but by jimminy it's bloody awful. I couldn't get to the end.
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:16, archived)
# I'm tempted just to see how bad it is...
too many films, too little time...
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:34, archived)
# Nay sayer!
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:15, archived)
# haha.
I like a bit of Kitsch and I'm a huge 1960's Godzilla fan but this is just wrong. It's not even 'plan 9 from outer space' bad that it becomes laughingly good. It's just an insult to anyone watching who's not been recently lobotomised.

# haha. You'll love it though.
It's by the same people who made 18 year old virgin ( the rip off, not the hollywood one '17 year old...')

And I have it on record that Redsushi actually wants to kill you for making him watch that :D
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:20, archived)
# Meh,
I wouldn't say I wanna kill him, there were tits at least :D
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:24, archived)
# hahahahaha
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:25, archived)
# It's a fine line.
For years I presumed Doc Savage: Man of Bronze was a hilariously bad film before I realised it's actually just a camp parody which is so well done it's honestly dazzlingly bizaare.

Conversely there are loads of films which are terribly poor which are worshipped as being brilliant, like turkish Rambo.

# All my old favourites disappoint me as I get older.
I had the misfortune to see 'The Evil Dead' again recently and I wish I hadn't. It seemed so much better when I was 15.
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:25, archived)
# Evil Dead II
is much better - it's a retread with more laughs and a bigger budget, really.
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:32, archived)
# No tree rape though!
*grumbles*
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:34, archived)
# ah, yes...
that's true...but added laughing moose!
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:37, archived)
# What annoyed me is
I watched it on Blu-Ray and it was still grainy old shit. What's the point of bringing out a blu-ray for a film that was shot on granddad's super-8?
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:38, archived)
# I hope Drag Me To Hell
is good - it's been ages since Raimi's done horror.
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:42, archived)
# He's only a producer on that
which means he put money into it as opposed to artistic input..

If you count that as involved then he's made loads of films recently.

( most of them shit )
www.imdb.com/name/nm0000600/
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:50, archived)
# Oh, right - I thought he was directing it.
Very different state of affairs, then - he has put his name and money behind some right shit, indeed...
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:53, archived)
# I stand corrected.
He's Director as well.

i still don't hold any hopes for it.
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:55, archived)
# I hope he comes up with the goods.
'A Simple Plan' was a great thriller. Mind you, that was over ten years ago...
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:59, archived)
# according to imdb
it's co-written with Ivan Raimi
which is an extremely bad sign
if Spiderman 3 or Army of Darkness are much to go by

disturbingly, Spiderman 4 & 5 are also showing up on imdb
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 1:13, archived)
# oh...the worst of both franchises, you're right.
and imdb is a bit ahead of itself, there, surely!
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 1:18, archived)
# it shows lots of titles in development, as well as out-and-out rumours.

Hence the continuing speculation about a new Evil Dead remake..
that's been going for a few years. : )
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 1:33, archived)
# I liked "The Gift" a lot, predictable as it was

also one of Keanu Reeves' better roles
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 1:04, archived)
# I never got round to seeing that one...
I'll have to check it out. Reeves in good film shocker!
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 1:12, archived)
# strongly recommended.
It's a neat cast, and successfully creepy.

That one was co-written by Billy Bob Thornton.
Raimi's a great director visually, but his writing is.. patchy.
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 1:17, archived)
# Keanu was really good in this movie.
It's one of the few films I've seen him in, so for a long time I didn't understand why people said he couldn't act. I've since learned, though.

...also, how did I go all this time not realizing Billy Bob Thornton and Sam Raimi were involved? I was probably aware of it at the time, but it didn't stay with me.
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 1:30, archived)
# it was shot on 16mm transferred to 32mm
although they did make 8mm films together in high school.

The DVD looks fine to me, though I've heard some people say the effects look better on VHS (I have both).. the Bruce Campbell commentary is great.

I don't know anything about BluRay but I imagine it is the new betamax
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 1:02, archived)
# oh god
Transmorhpers was shit.
It's porn without the good bits.
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:24, archived)
# :(
I had genuinely no hopes for this film, and you have even managed to ruin that
(, Mon 18 May 2009, 0:24, archived)
# Ive just watched it
It was disappointingly shit
