popular usage is tricky
as things like furtive and fluffy are probably oldest, but aren't that well known to newer members, and the fear has rather fallen out of favour lately. it's funny, chump manbear was a very rare sighting on the board for the fisrt few years of my membership, but he's quite popular these days again

But deleting threads with multiple long conversations in it?
That's not going to make you more popular by far

i suggest you read the FAQ
no matter how bad a post is, deleting it is always guaranteed to piss people off. just because people are slagging your stuff off, it doesn't necessarily mean we don't like it. sometimes we're just cunts. read the rules, stick to them, don't take things to heart and you'll do fine.

There is nothing in the FAQ
about deleting threads, and that is not what I was telling him to knob off about.

Deleting threads doesn't really bother me to be honest with you.
We've all made mistakes when posting and needed to rectify it quickly. Also, if it were against the FAQ, don't you think there would be no delete button? ;)

context is important
if it looks 'porny' it's no good if it's silly and 'oh! there's a cock' then it's a difficult call one guy has had a pic with a cock in it frontpaged, and then something similar was moderated, so even the site admins can be inconsistent

i think the key to this place is to go your own way
pay some mind to the general guidelines, join in with the banter, get to know that we're jsut internet randoms and not to be taken seriously and enjoy yourself
