Post A New Event | FAQ | Main board | Flickr Pool

UPDATE: OK! the plan is slightly evolving. As there are a few non-smokers signed up it only seems fair that we don't subject them too much to our stoned gibberish, therefore I propose that the main event will be held in a pub in the 'Dam (suggestions always welcome), and any smokers can just stroll to the nearest coffeshop whenever they feel the need. And for those that asked, YES!! this will be a weekend long thingummy for those that fancy hanging around.
Right!
as i understand it there are a lot of b3tans who are currently residing in Holland. Some are natives, others find themselves here for a variety of weird and wonderful reasons.
With this in mind i'd like to invite all of the aforementioned, as well as any b3tans who feel up to the trip, to join a b3ta bash in the european capital of smoking, Amsterdam.
Thus far i have chosen the Greenhouse Centrum as i have really failed to decide on a venue (i don't normally go to Amsterdam for my smoke) so suggestions for alternatives will be gratefully received via Gaz and a poll of some sort will probably be thrown together. I chose Amsterdam for obvious reasons but if anyone knows of anywhere more suitable then let me know. Ideally i'd like to try and find somewhere that will suit both smokers and non-smokers, i know it won't be easy to ensure maximum turnout. dates are also changeable but not too much, the date i've suggested is deliberatly far-off to allow for peoples travel plans to be formulated.
I have a house with room for at least 5 people (provided nobody minds sleeping on the floor) but i am in Den Haag so a 40 minute train ride is involved. Anyone with accomodation in Amsterdam proper they'd be willing to offer would be great, once again Gaz me and i'll edit the event details.
So without further ado (or words, apologies for length...) i now pronounce this bash as set!
greenhouse centrum, amsterdam

...that weekend I'll totally come along and not smoke hash :D
Alas my new work-supplied apartment in the Dam lacks sleeping quarters, so unless you're pretty female and willing to share a bed you're out of luck ;)

it will be, and/or if there's still floor space available or if an all-nighter is the plan. The connection with Nijmegen is, judging from previous experiences with gigs in Melkweg, basically shit. It stops at about midnight...
Is there any more information yet? (If anybody ever reads this...)

but I shall be attending... beer only for me though
EDIT: there appears to be no 'new calendar reply thingamy'
somehow 'quick reply' was enabled in my profile
never used it before
bloody new-fangled technology
next thing you know you'll be able to talk to people who aren't in the same room as you!
madness, it's all madness

I'm in that Holland, and the thought of spending a day in a coffeeshop fills me with meh.
Beers would be good, though.

Me and the missus have talked and if we can get a family member to look after the kids, we can certainly do a night in Dam. The whole weekend would be a stretch though.
I'm not saying yes just yet but we're a big possibility if you'll have us?
:D

Unfortunately lack of funds are going to rule me out.
Maybe next time!
Have fun!

Though the good Doctor When's bash is the weekend after I think, and so it's definitely a case of one or the other workwise, I'd have to blag some annual leave...

...I'd love to come, but with by Birthday Bash next weekend (like what she ^ said), I might not be able to afford it.
Definitely a possibility - it's time for my annual pilgramage to the 'Dam...

May I recommend some places?
Although the Grasshopper on Damrak is kind of handy, May I recommend Barneys for some Cannabis Cup winning bits and bobs...Sweet Tooth and Laughing Buddah are lovely. Plus they do the best all day brekkies you will have in Holland. It's fairly small though so be prepared to double up. Some people prefer Paradox over Barneys, however cos theres a bit more room.
Pascha is cheaper than Centruum, with almost the same menu.
And if you can find it Last Water Hole has pool and pints which is lovely!
For somewhere to stay, although not easy to get to Camping Zeeburg has fab 4-8 bed cabins at dirt cheap prices, plus they are "brown", allowing you to smoke in the cabins...hope this is helpful if not I'll get my coat.

but last july my friends and i stayed in these apartments:
Nieuwmarkt : www.amsterdamstay.com/redlightapartments.html
One for 4 people in a two bedroom apartment with a double and two single beds and the other apartment for 2 in a one bedroom apartment with a double bed. 640 ⬠for 3 nights, which is 53.33 ⬠per person/night.
they were nice and central and absolutely spotless. it ended up with about 12 of us staying there overnight. nobody checked up on us :)
i've also stayed in the flying pig hostel in the centre for 14 Euros in a dorm. it was basic, but fine if you're stuck! and you don't have to be a youth either.

googly mappy thing
it's a little outside the centre though
think there's a few coffee shops around, but can't really remember
I should also declare a vested interest... it's within staggering distance of my hotel ;)

that I have far too much to do to actually spend a day drinking in Amsterdam. Sorry. (Not that I'll actually be missed, cause I am, in fact, rather boring)
( , Fri 1 Feb 2008, 15:14, Reply)
Looks like I can't make it this weekend.
I'm a bit flooded with w*rk at the moment, and I just have too much to do before Monday to go out drinking :(
I was expecting this a bit, but hoped it wasn't necessary to cancel on the bash. Sorry all!
