Friday, one day to go before the bash and it's lashing it down with snow up here in the Frozen North.
I'll be getting the train down to The Smoke tomorrow afternoon and I'll be in the Drunken Monkey by 7.30.
I'm the seedy looking bloke in the corner. White shirt, black leather jacket and jeans. I'll be looking slightly bewildered. Find me and introduce yourself. Anyone need my phone number, e-mail me [email protected].
See you all on Saturday night!!!!
B3ta Bash in London so I can finally get to meet all the B3tans whose work I've grown to love.
I made an executive decision and the meeting place is to be The Drunken Monkey. The reason for this is that my nickname means drunken and my flatmate records his music as The Monkeyshed. It's an omen.
I'll get my PFY to knockup a quick website for the bash. Obviously, if you've got digital camera's bring them and I'll host a post-pissup gallery. 'Shopping the pics is , of course, encouraged......
Oh - and if anyone has a "Get Out Of Jail Free" card get me a few of them. I think I'll be needing it....

I'm easy - but you probably guessed that. All I need to make me happy is somewhere with decent booze, a few tunes and the chance to chase some fillies....

i'm not of legendary status on the board as of yet but the opportunity to
1) meet the faces behind the posts and
2) get royally wankered in london
just seems too good to miss...

And there's no such thing as a legend on B3ta - you're only as good as your last post.
So let's get this show on the road and see if we can make it night where legends *are* made....
Cheers

I need to pass the fuhrer some military secrets which will hasten the glorious day when the Ginga Army sweep outwards from under our camoflauge wigs near Chipping Norton and take what remains of our beautiful country back from the smug, besuited lackwits who are currently running it into the ground.
Also I fancy a pint.

Ginger I can handle, in fact I've a couple of close mates who are ginger but I do have *some* standards.......

Get one sorted in Manc, or leeds, or anywhere NORTH.
Then I would come!
Alas cannot get to The Smoke easily so it is a no i'm afraid.......
And if you want to sort one in Sweden speak to Humpty - that would be a laugh...
( , Tue 25 Oct 2005, 9:03, Reply)
I would have to suggest the Pitcher and Piano to initially meet up in. It's quite big and awfully spacious... And you can reserve bits of it for free.
You could get a plaque that says something like...
"Legless, London Chronicles"
And by the way, will Stusut79 not be on some sort of honeymoon? Possibly on the moon? Involving some ridiculously long story that I don't have the concentration span to read...
Eeep!

I'm not terribly 'techie'...
Will I be pushed aside and ever so slightly shunned or shall I be welcomed with motherly hugs and slightly funny looks?
Note; I shall drink heavily either way. Although there is a programme on Britains Youngest Boozers on ITV tonight, I hope that I'm not one. Saying that, I don't think that I can drink 7 litres of vodka in 45 minutes...
( , Tue 25 Oct 2005, 10:14, Reply)
Don't worry about lass - I doubt anyone will be in a fit state to talk techie even if they wanted to. Everyone will be welcomed with open arms.
The Piano And Pitcher sounds a good idea - especially if we can reserve space for free.
Where is it location wise?
As for finding each other, I'll be wearing a T-Shirt saying "I'm Legless". I'll also post up a few mug shots of me on my profile soon. That'll put some of you buggers off!
Cheers

It's on Dean Street, Soho. It's really easy to find, thats why I suggested it... We can always go on somewhere else.
I'm feeling rather relieved now. And must say that I am rather looking forward to it!
I think I'll wear a t-shirt with a kitten on it. Very B3ta...
Has anyone heard from Stusut79?

Has this bash been and gone? I've been out of the country with my new mrs on honeymoon.
( , Mon 7 Nov 2005, 15:50, Reply)
No, the bash is in a few weeks in fair London Town.
Your attendence is most humbly requested.

I'm a girl too, and not technically-minded, and also just possibly coming on my own. Is it going to be frightening?
( , Mon 7 Nov 2005, 16:13, Reply)
We'll be gentle with you. :)
No, it won't be frightening. We're a gentle bunch (as long as Wascally Weasle leaves his broadsword at home) and we'll look after you. There'll be a number of other ladies (and I use the term loosely) there and they'll look after you.
Cheers

Drink and big heavy bits of metal don't mix. Well, actually they mix far too well which is why I shall leave them at home.
Ms Weasel is coming to keep me in line too.
( , Wed 9 Nov 2005, 14:03, Reply)
Not to come across to keen, but I am so pleased that there is going to be quite a fair few girls there... I'm also a bit nervous, but from my understanding Legless is a very decent chap and am sure he'll be on lookout for us!
Another thing, I am also coming on my own so you, literally, won't be alone.

It has to be the Drunken Monkey on Liverpool street. Has great food (Dim Sum served all night) and great drinks prices including pitchers of beer, cocktails and a happy hour.
You can also go on to the Light Bar just up the road which is open until 3am.
I think the Drunken Monkey is the one of the best meet and party locations in London (and I ain't just saying that cos its close, it's fekkin milies away for me)
Check Lastminute for some very good London Hotel deals aswell.

Thats a lie. I used to live opposite it and it is ALWAYS filled with office types, which granted is not much better.
I also only suggested it as someone said 'How about Soho?' and the P&P is dead easy to find and we don't have to stay there. It's Central and very prominant.
I don't think people have to be harsh about a choice, it was only a suggestion.
Rant over.
Edit; The Drunken Monkey looks good though xxx

Sorry, I didn't mean to attack your choice of venue. It is very easy to find. I just thought it not a venue I would recommend to peeps outside of London. If people are coming to the big smoke, we should make a good impression rather than send everyone to a chain bar.
( , Tue 25 Oct 2005, 15:14, Reply)
Yep, drunken monkey full of shoreditch goppers and City monkeys!
( , Tue 25 Oct 2005, 17:15, Reply)
Definitely late, probably drunk and possibly accompanied by additional young ladies.

I'm sorry I took this long to reply to your comment on my blog! I'm a bit rubbish with things like that!
I have no idea what I shall wear, probably the standard jeans, boots and t-shirt... Don't think a cocktail dress or such would go down to well! Not that I have one... Or would ever even contemplate such a thing...
Am I rambling? Yes. Oh ok. I'll be going then.

No problem, thanks for getting back to me.
Attire suggestions duly noted - I shall wear something similar. : )

arsearsearse, I have to go to a wedding in Cheshire.
And the bash is 2 days after my birthday as well.
*sulks*
( , Mon 21 Nov 2005, 17:52, Reply)
Sorry to hear you can't come (although you could skive off the wedding. Unless it's your own).
( , Thu 24 Nov 2005, 17:45, Reply)
the wedding was very fine (and not mine, though it's only 3 short months away), though I suspect I may have had a hangover to rival any of yours... Sounds like you all had a good'un- jolly well done.
( , Mon 28 Nov 2005, 14:12, Reply)
to make Nottingham a week or so ago, it transpires I shall be in London on that very day! I therefore will come!

you missed meeting the most awesome Ms Pachey Pie, and also beer, pictures and general fun.
( , Sun 27 Nov 2005, 0:49, Reply)
Was there, had great time, cool to meet all that were there. It only occurred to me when I met people how stupid my user name is:
"Hi, I'm weasel".
The shame...hang on where did I put that QOTW answer?
( , Sun 27 Nov 2005, 0:51, Reply)
Make's me glad my username is my name IRL.
It was great fun, all who missed it should feel very ashamed!
Next time I'll try and bring an Axe so we can go ahead and steal that christmas tree, might get some funny looks on the tube tho'.

Did anyone else find that absinthe causes the worst hangovers in Christendom?
( , Sun 27 Nov 2005, 21:13, Reply)
I was a wee bit worse for wear this morning but I think that related to everything else I drank over the course of that day rather than just the absinthe.
Having said that, my deeply pacifist friend Anya once beat the crap out of her boyfriend after drinking lots of absinthe in Prague, so who knows?
Was great to meet everyone that was there.

Please pass on my regards to the lovely Mrs Weasal too.

Are any of the photos online yet? Is there any evidence (apart from the various hangovers) of how the evening degenerated after I left?

I can't remember leaving the Drunken Monkey. One moment I was behaving disgracefully trying to persuade Pachey to come back to my hotel with me, next I was waking up in my hotel room. With a kebab. Fuck knows where I got that from.
The journey back up North was a special kind of hell.
Cheers
