In some Anglo Saxon gospels, there are what appear to be deliberate mistakes in the illustrations, historians think these may be done to prove / remind that man will never attain perfection, that alone belongs to god.

Part of me wishes, this is the same sentiment being exppressed by the tiler who put that floor down :D

This is a normal post I've heard the same story
about rugs in Islam. Especially if they're in the same room where a Qur'an is kept.

Much to my credit it's something I've never bothered to verify.

Like the guy mentioned earlier, artists liked to leave a flaw in their work to demonstrate their product will never be as perfect as God's. A good example is in Byron's personal chapel.
