Discuss. (Personally I think they can't fuck it up more than GL has already done, plus if it goes anywhere near Pixar's screenwriters it could actually be OK).

Lucasfilm still exists, it will just be under the Disney umbrella.
The same as Marvel is.
The same as Miramax was
The same as Hollywood Pictures and Touchstone were.
Disney doesn't just make kids films:
Ruthless People
Con Air
Pulp Fiction
Scream
Alive
Die hard 3
Starship troopers...
These are all 'Disney' films.
And after what they did for The Muppets, Disney can do little wrong in my eyes at the moment

They are currently working on Matthew Reilly's books too (the Scarecrow series are perfect cinema fodder and as far from normal Disney as you would expect).
I don't think they could ever do as much damage to it as George Lucas already has.

The next three were the same, but because said geeks were now adults they can't get that nostalgia kick, therefore: they're shit.
...same thing'll happen if they make another three.

Have you had a conscious plan to avoid them or did it just pan out that way?

Disney should stick to films with princesses, farmhands and talking animals fighting against evil, magical, black clad villains.
Steer clear of our Star Trek Disney!!

made three prequel movies which were crap. Disney can surely do better.

Even the Zahn trilogy. Yes it's the best the EU has to offer, but that's not saying much AT ALL.

But I'm hard pushed to think of another game that was any good.

"This might be a controversial opinion, but I'm pleased that Disney have bought Lucasarts.
Star Wars was at it's best when Lucas was borrowing from mythology (Luke's storyline is a classic "heroes journey", as seen in Greek & Norse myths) and perloining techniques from master film makers (R2 and C3P0 being based on the protagonists in Kurosawa's Hidden Fortress). Those influences, and John Williams' score (which borrowed heavily from Holst's Planets suite) are what makes the original trilogy so enduring.
But the Star Wars franchise has never really been just the trilogy that people hold sacred. The canon has been embellished and extended in the form of novels, animated series (Ewoks and Droids, then more recently, the Clone Wars), further films (An Ewok Adventure, Caravan of Courage) and a series of excellent computer games, many of which came before the prequel trilogy.
The one thing Disney is really good at is breathing new life into fairytales, myths and legends. They also own Pixar, who consistently push the boundaries of CG animation, while telling good stories (Pixar also started out as part of Lucasarts).
A lot of people felt that Lucas had marred their childhood memories with first the special editions, then the prequels (and especially Jar Jar Binks). So what is so bad about handing the reigns over to someone else? Especially a company with over half a century of experience bringing classic stories to life."

and are now run mostly by Pixar board members.
Not so much a takeover, more like a reverse takeover with the money going the other way or something.
