This chap is banging out new jungle/hardcore on old equipment, and it's making me all nostalgic.

I remember the heady days when you could post without an account!

As for "it were all fields" - I did catch the very end of the original green colour scheme, although I was only an observer back then.

Edit: am I making that up? I could have sworn there was a short lived green colour scheme - but archive.org is being a dick today and won't show me anything so I can't check.

It's using the Amiga's sound chip, Paula, which provides 4 channels of 8 bit PCM audio (OctaMED is capable of 8 channels by using software mixing).

The Amiga doesn't have a PSG (programmable sound generator), unlike its contemporary, the Atari ST.

MOD music is considered part of the chiptune scene (I know some old-school tracker musicians).

'Fake' chiptune generally refers to using software (e.g. VST plugins) on modern hardware to produce sounds that are similar to what is produced by old hardware, but even artists employing such techniques are accepted as being part of the chiptune scene.
