"Liberal Democrats have decided against holding a debate calling for changes to the NHS in England to be dropped.
The party voted at its spring conference in Gateshead not to take an emergency motion urging the withdrawal of the Health and Social Care Bill.
Instead it backed Baronness Williams's rival option supporting the changes."
Bye Bye NHS. Thanks for all your help, lib dems.

i.e. "THEY ARE TOO HIGH!"
Whereas it takes a bit of time to explain what the problem is exactly with the NHS reforms, and it's a bit hard to get a group of people to march if they don't think they quite understand the problem.

still come the next election we won't have to worry about them anymore. They will be as relevant as channel 5.

Holding the Tories' coats, while they kick us to death.

the fury aimed at the Lib Dems. The wrath should surely be aimed at the Tories and the people who voted for them. Yes, they appear to be a spineless bunch, but people seem angry because we aren't getting Lib Dem policies like their approach to the NHS or their plans on student fees. People are getting angry because we are getting Tory policy, not Lib Dem policy.
But the Lib Dems came third in the election, which is pretty conclusive proof that the public don't want Lib Dem policy.
If people did, they would have won the election and possibly been able to keep their promises, (at least as much as any party does).
Why is everyone blaming them for ruining the country by not doing what we apparently didn't want them to do in the first place?

Because their votes are propping up a minority Tory govt. who are able to push through radical right-wing policies as a result of their support.
That's my reason anyway

But the minority Tory govt was still the most popular in the democratic process amoung the people. There is little doubt in my mind that if the Lib Dems had refused to play ball and we had another election (at that time), the Tories would have won a majority. So all this would be happening anyway.
The Lib Dems gambled everything on electoral reform which might have changed all this. The public rejected it.

Or, they were bought off with a sham referendum offering the worst possible proportional system.
Tbh, if they'd leave the NHS alone I'd be cutting them a bit more slack, but having a very detailed understanding of how it works now, and how it's going to be, I fear one of the best things about this country is about to be destroyed with Lib-dem support.
Happy Saturday! I'm going to drink heavily for a while now

i've studuiously avoided attacking the lib dems in my lyrics cos they are partly there to draw fire from the tories.

They've found themselves in a position where they have a massive amount of visibility, but very little power - it's naive to think that any hard-line Lib Dem policy has a chance of getting in when the Tories run the show, particularly in an economic and political climate like this.
That said, it's crushingly disappointing to a long-term Lib Deb voter like myself; they've had a clear choice between short-term survival and long-term credibility, and it's pretty clear they've gone wholeheartedly for the former. I'm not sure they had any choice, really, but come the next election they'll be further behind than ever before.
