You cant have someone old enough to be the average listener's dad on there wittering on about kebabs and drinking - it's pathetic.

Radio2 all the way.

The woman I share an office with insists on radio 2- Chris Cunting Evans followed by right-wing cunts phoning up Jeremy Vine, and then some afternoon-cunt equivalent of Evans?? All washed down with Will CUNTING Young "Oooo....I just want a lover!" on an (apparent) endless loop!???? Nonsense NONSENSE NONSENSE!!!!
Give me radio four or give me death.

But I grow quickly weary of their DJs casually mentioning obscure bands and their even more obscure import coloured vinyl etc. OK, they're meant to be experts in their field but that sort of schtick isn't my cup of tea. Craig Charles' funk & soul show is good though. And i think there's a reggae one too.
Blessed are the radio stations without adverts, though. Amen to that.

but I've noticed a couple of posts accusing 6music of elitism.
Have you listened to its daytime shows recently? I will definitely agree that ot used to be and the night time shows can still be very indie schmindie but the daytime shows (especially Lauren Laverne and Radcliffe and Maconie) play a lot of well known, accessible music.

Though I find their music to be a little TOO obvious/not obscure enough. And they don't always mention the colour of the vinyl of their limited EPs.

Glad to be the catalyst for your mid morning rage-gasm.
Some of us need a little music to drive to at 6:30 in the morning.
And whilst I have respect for John Humphrys i'ld prefer something more melodic at that time.
Further more when i'm slogging home for 50 miles i'ld rather not listen to a poet reading out her diary when she was a "right on" student activist.
Now take all that, wrap it up tight and shove it up your elitest bum-hole.
Oh look, it's "Womans hour" right now. Whoopy frickin doo.
( , Wed 11 Jul 2012, 10:24, Reply)

And depending when you're driving home you've got the always-excellent magazine shows at 4.30 & then PM. NEVER any poet/student activist bollocks.
And woman's hour is usually engaging too.
....& you didn't mention The Archers, which (I'll concede) is fifteen minutes of rancid bumfodder.

Then home at 6:30 in the evening when this is on.
www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01kknzp
"Comedian Rufus Hound is joined by poet Jackie Kay who revisits her politically active student years in the early eighties, when she went on every demo she possibly could. She shares some of her early poetry, and talks about what a revelation it was to finally meet and make friends with other black women when she was at university."
Sounds like poet student activist bollocks to me.
Leaving at 4:30? The working days still going strong.
And during the day I don't have radio I play my own music.
Is that allowed?

Violence begets violence and somebody being a grumpy cunt begets others being so too.
I was ready to be all happy clappy today, even got a bit of sun going on and then you vomited forth your bile.
If you're going to be this moody at least camp it up a little.
Dame Edna having a go and putting people down all the time is apparently entertainment.
Barry Humphries doing the same would just be annoying.
At least I went to the effort to actually MAKE you a picture

Radio 4 is good for news & op-ed pieces but it can get too arty-farty for its own good. The comedy shows are, by and large, excellent. Radio 2 only has one daytime DJ worth listening to but the specialist evening music programmes can be good - not always though. Good thing is, if I don't like what's on the radio I just pop in a CD.
If you really want elitism, listen to radio 3. I mean, who REALLY likes opera?
( , Wed 11 Jul 2012, 10:43, Reply)

Radio 2 in the evening has some good stuff so long as you filter out Jamie Cullums voice.

What the fuck is radio?
( , Wed 11 Jul 2012, 11:02, Reply)

although I started listening to Radio 4 a few years ago 'cos I couldn't stand Radio 1 any more. It's just noise.
I was thinking the other day how he would probably get kicked off soon, wish I'd have had a bet on it now. I might try and figure out when he is going to die.

Him, and the utter utter shiteness of their playlist.

What annoyed me more than Moyles' presence was the constant background toadying of his gang of lickspittles. Comedy fucking Dave and that lot. What a bunch of wastrel cunts.
I struggle to listen to anything on the radio. Radio 1 is full of crap, Radio 6 is bearable until one of the DJs casually name-drops an obscure band's limited edition EP that he bought once and I feel old listening to Radio 4. I've no idea what's on Radios 2 and 3 to be honest. And, the lack of any commercial radio stations in this post is quite simply because they're all bollocks.
( , Wed 11 Jul 2012, 10:21, Reply)

You can't hear any lyrics and the beats too loud.
God bless Radio 4 and internet radio stations/downloadable mixes.

Since losing the ability to plug my iphone into the car, I've been desperately trying to stay 'down with the kids' by listening to radio 1 in fits and spurts.
The trouble is that the entire station seems to be a 24 hour shrine to the camp, northern drawl of that fucking Grimshaw. His voice makes my shit itch.
If you ask me, Radio is a dead medium riddled with cliche and being slowly throttled by the march of technology.
