This is a question Control Freaks

Peej writes, "My mate Tony's dad used to weigh the breakfast cereal in the morning to make sure everybody got an equal amount and the pack provided the exact amount of servings advertised on the packet. I learned from this that the recommended serving size on a cereal packet isn't enough to feed a sparrow."

Sound familiar? Tell us more.

i'm not really a control freak, in fact i'm much more on the lazy bitch end of the spectrum, but it is essential that things are on odd numbers
little things, like the tv volume.

this can get really awkward if you're with someone who has the opposite problem and has to have them on even numbers (more common than you'd think, the weirdos). or if it's someone else's house. it's hard to surreptitiously lean on the remote and raise or lower the volume by just a notch...

Odd numbers? Eugh.

Don't you have the problem where one number is too quiet and the next number up is too loud?

(, Wed 29 Oct 2014, 11:22, closed)
I cannot imagine a television set ever being loud enough to cover MsSwipes conversation level.
This observation is without merit and based on very little.

you don't talk in front of the television, you ghastly pilchard
you drink vodka and eat chocolate in front of it.

i'm not much of a drinker. it's really just neat evian :((

But if the TV has an even number of speakers then the combined sound of the 2 odd numbers will be an even number

(, Wed 29 Oct 2014, 16:57, closed)
And, moreover
volume 27 on my Hitachi is the same as volume 10 on my Sony. Then if I use the Sony in conjunction with the Humax box, each of which have their own controllers, modifying a Humax volume 17 with a Sony 8 would require a deep understanding of Mathematics to have any idea if the output was "odd" or "even". So like any OCD pursuit of perfection or symmetry, this is futile.

don't ever get a BMW...
...with the dual zone climate control. Had to have it on the same (even) number each side, to the point where I'd have difficulty concentrating if it wasn't. Used to drive the wife nuts.

Better to drive your BMW

Given that my current and nicest ever car is a 12 year old 120k Picasso
The chances of me owning a BMW of any kind other than Dinky are absolute zero. So obviously your tale of agitation elicits very little sympathy from me.

Jealousy, yes; sympathy, no....

How do you know what the volume is set at when you are at someone else's house?

(, Thu 30 Oct 2014, 12:28, closed)
it only bothers me if i see it
otherwise i don't think about it. it's just when the numbers appear on the screen, or if you have the kind of car stereo that shows the number (fortunately mine doesn't). shudder.
