I have a 'smile' playlist specifically for that reason
I stick my tunes out LOUD and sofadance like a mong. Then I get drunk or stoned and eat some cake.

You've got the right idea.

(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 20:57, Reply)
8 times out of 10 it works a treat
the other 2 times might require watching a feel-good movie like Stardust or browsing foodporn (ie, bbcgoodfood.com)
(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:02, Reply)
Stardust is an awesome film
And I'm clearly not gay for admitting that.
(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:04, Reply)
It is genuinely the only film which I prefer to the book
possibly also LOTR, but bloody Elijah Wood spoils that for me a bit. It never fails to cheer me up and make me feel all squishy inside.
(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:05, Reply)
LOTR is a superb film
Are you a Legolas or an Aragorn girl?
(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:09, Reply)
Aragorn
Legolas is a pansy.
(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:12, Reply)
The only Aragorn fangirl I know is my crazy sister...

(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:13, Reply)
Aragorn is clearly the hot one

(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:14, Reply)
FFS, that was supposed to be Legolas fangirl
*belm*
(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:15, Reply)
Nup
I'm very rarely attracted to blondes. Orlando Bloom in Pirates maybe, but his eyebrows scare me.
(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:20, Reply)
They're a bit mental, aren't they?
Not quite Charlie Simpson bad, but pretty damn bad.
(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:21, Reply)
The first time I watched Pirates
I may have been to the pub before the cinema, and I spent half the film giggling at his and Keira Knightleys eyebrows. They're both mental.
(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:24, Reply)
The first time I saw Pirates 3, I was hideously hungover
Due to this happening the night before.
(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:29, Reply)
Bloody hell!

(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:31, Reply)
That was between 4 of us
The other 3 MOTHERFUCKERS got to sleep in the next day, I had to be up at 9 to go to the cinema with my then-Mrs
(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:35, Reply)
Ouch.

(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:31, Reply)
Lies
Bummer.
(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:15, Reply)
Have you seen it?

(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:17, Reply)
Yes
'Shit' does not begin to describe it.
(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:18, Reply)
I think it's absolutely superb

(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:19, Reply)
don't you find the happiness and chirpiness
feels like sandpaper on your psyche?
(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:06, Reply)
Not really
when I'm pissed off or upset I wallow for a bit until I'm ready to be cheered up, and then I cheer myself up with one of the things above. Woe betide you if you try and cheer me up before I'm ready, but the wallowing stage doesn't usually last long.
(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:09, Reply)
well I'm going to drink vodka
and watch children of men

I'll cheer up tomorrow
(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:19, Reply)
That is a great film

(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:49, Reply)
I've got either happy music, or extremely agressive angry music to cheer me up
What sort of stuff is on your playlist?
(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:02, Reply)
Happy
it's all cheery pop and indie and songs that have a particular meaning/memory for me. It ranges from The Cure to Pixies to Mika to Erasure to The Specials etc etc etc. There's even an X Factor runner up in there /shameface.
(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:05, Reply)
Loath as I am to admit it, I really quite like that track by Mika - 'Happy Ending'

(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:09, Reply)
It's all about Grace Kelly imo
still one of the best gigs I've ever been to.
(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:13, Reply)
When I worked at McDonalds, that was on the permanant soundtrack in store, drove me mental!

(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:14, Reply)
"Big Girl You Are Beautiful" was at the top of the charts when I worked at one of TK Maxx's central warehouses.
Even now I can't listen to it, it takes me right back there and it was by far worst place I have ever worked.
(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:31, Reply)
That song just makes me angry for the fact it increases the jiggling on any dancefloor by roughly 2350%

(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:34, Reply)
And that's just when Lab gets up to dance.

(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:37, Reply)
Poor Labs
he was looking really quite slender at the weekend as well.
(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:41, Reply)
That was an optical illusion

(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:42, Reply)
I shall find out for myself next weekend.
Mind you, he's going to be force fed copious good Greek food when he visits so he'll be back to his bloatery ways in no time.
(, Wed 23 Feb 2011, 21:43, Reply)
This song makes me sad
