I dream:
Of having my own restaurant, and all of the meat that we use comes from the farm that the restaurant is on. I have a dog called Corben Dallas and I have a profitable sideline as a film actor.

Oh yeah, DiT is here! :)

I've thought of having a restaurant myself
but it's too hard work. You won't have weekends or holidays anymore.

Ah, but once I'm MASSIVELY successful, I will employ other people and sod off to Barcelona or somewhere.
Or maybe I will buy my own house or something. And a Ferrari. And have my own TV show.
(, Tue 10 May 2011, 13:30, Reply)
Yes, I thought of that too
Employ some people to do all the cooking and farming and waitering. But then... is that the reason why you open a restaurant? Just to get enough money to pay other people to do what you like to do?
(, Tue 10 May 2011, 13:31, Reply)
Uh-huh.
I could then do it on my own terms - no-one wants to work weekends forever.

Besides, the pressure of presenting my own TV show would mean I would have to be away every now and then.

I still think it's too complicated
My brother loves cooking and tried this, and got fed up after a year of not being able of having any social life or money. I use his failure as my example. But eh, who knows, you might be the next Jamie Oliver.

NO. DEAR GOD NO. I refuse to be associated with that fat-tongued git.
Maybe Marco. Or Heston.

Or Worrall-Thompson

I think Heston is a sound bloke
poncy food perhaps, but he's pretty smart, and doesn't come across at all like a twat
(, Tue 10 May 2011, 13:42, Reply)
It's the poncy food that irritates me, I just seriously do not see the need for it.

(, Tue 10 May 2011, 13:43, Reply)
it's a luxury
there's no need for an awful lot of things. From what I hear his food tastes incredible, that alone makes it worthwhile.
(, Tue 10 May 2011, 13:44, Reply)
I hate to call you a Northern Philistine...

I liked the programme he did about the Children's Hospital food. Showed that he's incredibly creative and clever with food production - of course he can be called 'poncy' at his restaurant, but that sort of comes with the territory of being one of the best restaurants in the world.

I've eaten there. It's outstanding.
(, Tue 10 May 2011, 13:45, Reply)
eating there is a dream of mine
hopefully in the next year
