I've had a nap.
I'm not considering a takeout and a few cans as I'm still pretty tired.

What are you doing this evening?
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 18:40, 76 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
Not pissing about on the internet.

(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 18:59, Reply)
What does the evening hold instead of pissing about on Internet
Drinking beer and smurking tabs is my guess.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 19:21, Reply)
smurkinglols

(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 19:51, Reply)
Not going on the pier.
I will, however, be watching telly and fannying about on the internet.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 19:03, Reply)
There is fuck all worth watching on the telly this evening from what I can tell.

(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 19:20, Reply)
I'm watching 'Before the were famous' on BBC 3
I have a feeling it may be the highlight of my evening.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 19:26, Reply)
I'm ashamed to say that my telly box is also displaying the same show.
Still, there is always 'The Cube' McFly special to look forward to later on.

I fear the pub might be calling me.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 19:28, Reply)
I'd watch that if it was the same CUbe as in the film
but I'm guessing it may be something different.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 19:29, Reply)
It's a wanky game shop hosted by Pip Schofield

(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 19:35, Reply)
I keep getting offered tickets to that
never seen it.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 19:47, Reply)
heading up to clifton village

(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 19:32, Reply)
I went out last night (not to the village) and I'm feeling rotten today.
Where in the village do you think you'll end up, they do a good pint of San Miguel in the Greyhound.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 19:35, Reply)
Not sure, starting in CHannings then will stroll up. I don't want a large one really
as going swimming in the morning. What time is the mcfly cube special on, I want to watch that!
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 19:38, Reply)
Checking the tv guide it isn't on until 8.40pm - so you'll probably be in the pub.
Sky Arts are showing coverage of this weekends Isle of Wight festival so I'll record that to watch post pub (I've decided to go out for a couple of hours, whilst I feel like shit I'm sure once the first pint goes down I'll make a sufficient recovery to enjoy myself)
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 19:41, Reply)
Channings is crap. Go somewhere decent.

(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 20:20, Reply)
just made a piadina pizza
with pepperoni and chorizo and bell pepper and mushroom and shallot and 4 - FOUR - different cheeses.

Fantastic. Now I am quaffing cheap-but-nice wine and I think I'm going to watch Tucker & Dale vs Evil which looks pretty funny.

trying to learn the lyrics to Wandrin' Star
to take full advantage of my temporarily Lee Marvin-esque voice.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 19:52, Reply)
When my dad was a lad, his neighbours asked him to get them a record while he was buying a 45 for himself
So he bought I Want You Back by the Jackson Five.
They listened to it, said it was shite and sent him back to get Wandrin' Star instead.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 20:08, Reply)
if you could put together a book of your stories
I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

I never realised quite how bleak Wandrin' Star is. In summary, people are horrible and you should stay away from them.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 20:21, Reply)
Dad's poor neighbours.
They must have been particularly afflicted with scouse melancholy.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 20:25, Reply)
I'm plotting my route to Sweden and trying to find good campsites on the way.
Undecided as yet as to where in Germany is worth stopping. I don't have a very high opinion of Germany having spent a godawful far-too-long weekend in Saarbrucken a long time ago. Yes, I'm writing off a whole country on that basis.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 20:22, Reply)
Well, maybe you don't like the vibe.
Stop at some services and see how you feel this time round.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 20:26, Reply)
The good thing about German service stations
is that they sell peanut crisps.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 20:27, Reply)
What exactly?
Crispy peanuts? Nut flavoured crisps?
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 20:28, Reply)
They're like wotsits
but peanut flavour. My god, they're good.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 20:33, Reply)
I like the dill-flavoured crisps they have in Poland and Latvia
and god-knows where else.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 20:36, Reply)
I've heard bad reports of Saarbrucken too so it may be just exceptionally dull.
Hamburg is a fun place. While camping in Germany I reckon you'll encounter a shocking number of unexpectedly nude people.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 20:33, Reply)
Hamburg is en route
and I'm pondering whether we stop there or in Bremen. I must try to be blasé about the nude people.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 20:35, Reply)
I have been to Munster
but I spent almost the entire time getting drunk in the park. Seemed nice enough, old university town, lots of bicycles.

ninjaedit had rendered this sterling advice useless.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 20:49, Reply)
Yeah, I changed my mind and thought Bremen sounded nicer.
I'm willing to be swayed on Munster though.

Think my outgoing plan is now: Bruges, Bremen (buy peanut crisps), Copenhagen (import blackmarket Marmite), visit a b3tan in Sweden, visit my favourite geek couple in Sweden (do the Midsommar thing).
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 21:23, Reply)
Midsommar sounds awesome
copious drinking and lashings of pickled herring. I tried curried herring last year, nomtastic.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 21:45, Reply)
It's very cool.
I spent Midsommar there a few years ago. We got very drunk, sang some bizarre songs, went swimming in a lake during the midnight twilight and went joyriding in a canoe.

I'm watching Iron Man 2
After the first viewing in the cinema I thought it was a good laugh but not as good as the first one. The shortcomings are far more glaring on this second viewing. The best thing about it is Sam Rockwell.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 20:24, Reply)
I'm watching that.
Oh no, I'm watching Ice Age 2.
As you were.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 20:27, Reply)
Ooh, shit sequel top trumps
Close call I'm thinking.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 20:39, Reply)
Haven't seen Iron Man or the sequel so I dunno.
I want to see Potiche but apart from a members' screening tomorrow in Liverpool it looks like it's in London for a week and that's that.

This makes me sad.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 20:42, Reply)

Coke.

I'm digesting my curry and having another beer.

I'll be revising, watching HIGNFY and hanging about here for a bit

Jo Brand was nearly funny on that for once

(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 21:02, Reply)

(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 21:05, Reply)
she was doing well until she mentioned her husband.

(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 21:19, Reply)
Yeah
Paul's quip at the end about the Germans was pretty funny as well
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 21:20, Reply)
I just made a lovely salad
and am debating whether or not to follow it up with some Galaxy.

I am also watching HIGNFY as I didn't see it last night.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 21:16, Reply)
I have to do TWO more pages of work before I can have vino and nommy fish and rice

(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 21:17, Reply)

(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 21:21, Reply)
Well he bit the laptop cable earlier...

(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 21:22, Reply)
Well I went to the pub for a couple of hours.
Nursed a couple of pints and came home again.

Hope you're all having more fun this evening than me.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 22:20, Reply)
I hope the pints recovered.
I am watching TV, which some might consider fun.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 22:23, Reply)
The pints are still in me.

(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 22:25, Reply)
Not really no
how many episodes of WR left?
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 22:23, Reply)
We've just had episode 6 of what, Google informes me, is 30 episodes.

(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 22:28, Reply)
That switch from the end of last series to the beginning of this one really confused me.
Some of the characters seem to have aged about three years in the last 12 months.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 22:30, Reply)
For some reason there was no real gap between the end of the last series and the start of the current one.
They've made no reference to whatshisface falling off that bridge either.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 22:31, Reply)
Considering it was touch and go whether he would ever walk again
Also, there seems to be no mention ever of the fact that he and Amy were madly in love once.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 22:34, Reply)
Not to mention
Vicky being all shy about the fashion show when she used to poledance in her lunchtime
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 23:11, Reply)
Wow that's quite a lot
I'm really surprised they took the turn they did so early. I expected them to drag it out
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 22:31, Reply)
Me too.
Maybe they were concerned that Denzil was about to start shaving and they wanted to get that tender moment out of him first!
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 22:32, Reply)
Hey Amberl.
Do you think we should let b3th into the 'well hip and cool, OT WR club'?

Do you think she'll keep her membership a big secret or let us down by blabbing.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 22:33, Reply)
Oh yeah, absolutely
I know too much about it. see above.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 22:35, Reply)
The first rule of the 'well hip and cool, OT WR club'
Is that we never talk about the well hip and cool, OT WR club.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 22:36, Reply)
In that case, can we start a pier club?

(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 22:43, Reply)
No.
Not until you go on the pier and report back as to the merits of having a pier club.

The pier might be shit.
(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 22:47, Reply)
Yup we should let her in

(, Sat 11 Jun 2011, 23:10, Reply)
Drinking, Lots of drinking.
God Wakefield is shit.
