I can't really see any difference
and it's all the same. It's still embarrassing to hear them talk as though they could've influenced the victory/defeat in any way, or when the possible achievements of 11 men on a field, has a direct personal link to their mood.

books
theatre

These are all designed to change your mood

All of those things have an emotional impact
but no-one feels personally invested in them. When I watch a film I don't feel a personal connection to the actors, or will them to act well or feel emotion when they don't. I take it as entertainment. I have no problem with people who like to watch football just as a sport, but I think the emotional attachment to a team is odd.
