Well if we can have 2 shit threads running, why not 3?
I was thinking of organising a trip to the tower of London in late November/early December, mostly for London B3tans, who will likely not have been. Anyone other than Hovis up for it?

Alt: Other London touristy attractions that might be worth doing at the same time?

Edit: 2 1 3 2

Go to Gordon's wine bar on Villiers St. Drink wine. Do not bother with touristy stuff.
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:02, Reply)
The whole point is that there is good stuff in London that Londoners don't bother with because they life there

(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:03, Reply)

My point is that (as a Londoner) I don't want to do those things - I disagree with the idea that I am missing out in someway by living in London and not going to see tourist attractions.
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:06, Reply)
it's an interesting psychological quirk that we write off as tourist attractions things we would travel to see else where.
I like castles and history and have seen a fair few, but never been into the one on my doorstep. Most Londoners, even those who share my interests express a weird aversion. It's most odd, we live in the best and most interesting city in the country, if not the world, why not explore all it has to offer.

I've done a lot of the more obscure stuff too, and will do more, but avoiding things merely because they are local and popular is perverse.
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:11, Reply)
Yup, well, that seems to cover it nicely.

(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:30, Reply)
I should decry your logic as this is now only the 2nd shit thread running
but I'll be in London for a gig on October 9th and was contemplating seeing if any London B3tans fancy a few jars before the doors open. This offer is more enticing than yours as it involves me.
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:04, Reply)
Oi my threads not shit!
My thread has News! Blood! and Beards! So fuck you you fucking.....vegetarians boyfriend!

"is obvious hero a hero? BTW I got beaten up on a bus once"

Also subjective.

Coincidence?

Is she fuck
Which is not to say your missus isn't hot, based on all of one photo she clearly is
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:15, Reply)
I've put many more than one photo on b3ta.
Not my fault you weren't paying attention.
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:18, Reply)
Do you really want me to go looking for further pictures of your missus?

(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:20, Reply)
I feel safer with you looking at her than if it were a straight guy

Hahaha

Again this is subjective.
Tell you what, you can both Gaz me pics and I'll tell you who I'd rather violate.

Earlier I was having a very geeky discussion with a workmate

Yet you have no children with geek names
so I still outrank you

Can't argue with that
I've stated before that I bow down to your Overlord-level Nerdery for this reason. I'll never have the chance to emulate this, unless we get an ant colony and I name them all by BSG pilot callsigns.

Would I date a vegetarian if there wasn't sufficient reward for doing so?!

The two could be combined maybe?
Regardless I shall do the tower at some point.
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:07, Reply)
You should go ahead with your plan mate
I really will only have a couple of hours spare, and haven't even got my tickets or travel sorted yet, it might not happen
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:10, Reply)
Oh, I shall
just thought it might be fun if others joined me.
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:13, Reply)
FYI - my gig is at the Koko in Camden - if that's too far North of the river for you I'll understand.

(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:16, Reply)
Your gig in what sense?
Are you playing something of merely attending? Camden is easy enough to get to, this is a civilised part of the world after all.
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:19, Reply)
Sorry, the gig I'm going to
I have no musical talent whatsoever
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:20, Reply)
I have my son during the day on the 9th
but I should be free and could be in Camden by 6 or 7 if that fits and you fancied a pint.
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:24, Reply)
Should do.
I can't stress strongly enough that this is a theoretical plan thus far - haven't paid for or organised anything, don't know what time doors are or who's supporting. I'll let you know, thank you for your interest though :-)
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:25, Reply)
No worries, I can suggest a pub if you're interested.

(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:26, Reply)
You'll have to, like I know where to drink in Camden

(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:29, Reply)
I would recommend The Dev if you're not easily intimidated
it's a goth/punk/metal pub but friendly enough, BTW are you sure you mena the 9th? It's a Sunday.

Edit: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devonshire_Arms
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:31, Reply)
I certainly do, sadly
Train engineering works mean a three hour trip each way and not getting home until 2.30am. And if The Dev is a goth pub I daresay it'll be full of people going to the gig.
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:34, Reply)
it's about a 10-15 minute walk away from the venue, so there's a fair chance.
and it's not so much a goth pub as the goth pub. I probably still know a few of the regulars, more worryingly I dated one of the bouncers and while we split on good terms not everyone there may be aware of this, which could be interesting to say the least.
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:39, Reply)
Are you still on speaking terms with him?
If he gives you a hard time (fnarr) I'll defend you. I'm well tough, me.

She's one of my best friends
So I doubt there'd be any problems, just not been there since we were together. She doesn't work Sundays though.

Camden?
WTF?

Somewhere central would be nice.

Perfumed ponce.

Nicely played, FILM-boy
I didn't choose for the gig to be there mate, if it was up to me they'd be playing Norwich Waterfront and I could avoid going anywhere near you benders
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:35, Reply)
Who's playing BTW?

(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 15:40, Reply)
VNV Nation

I have Praise for the Fallen
Mostly because I think Joy is an excellent song, the rest of it is OK too.

Joy is indeed an amazing song. They open their headline set at InFest with that. I went absolutely spare.

Techno-industrial isn't really my thing, but I like some of it and it used to get some play at The Electric Ballroom back in the day.

Being surrounded by children with a ridiculous sense of entitlement who look like the Hoxton branch of Oxfam threw up on them isn't my thing either
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 16:05, Reply)
I'd allow a good 50 minutes.
You need to walk from the coach to the tube, get the Victoria line, change to the Northern at Warren Street or Euston (personal preference is Warren Street as it's usually less busy) then get to Mornington Crescent. Koko is just outside there.

Everything goes smoothly, you might make it in 35-40 mins, but it won't go smoothly.

(I realise you weren't asking me, but...)

Appreciate it
From memory I can't see a trip out to Brick Lane for a curry being a viable plan. Beers in Camden it is then
