I am categorically less of a geek than a lot of people on here by simple virtue of being useless with computers
Nonetheless I am still an arch geek, and probably one of the nicest people most of you will ever virtually meet

That's debatable ; )

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:10, Reply)
Considering this website is basically to take the piss out of everyone/everything
There are some very pleasant people on here!
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:12, Reply)
and Monty

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:14, Reply)
I'm going to whisper this so as not to upset him
He is actually very nice in real life - shhhh!
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:15, Reply)
they say that about everyone.
Well except Chompy. Apparently Al's really lovely. I can never understand this.
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:16, Reply)
Al can be really funny on here, but he does have a habit of taking things to a too personal level

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:18, Reply)
He is very different in real life.

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:21, Reply)
So people keep saying.

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:23, Reply)
I gather he used to be more fun
I suspect it's marriage.
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:22, Reply)
Or vans

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:23, Reply)
I'm very much looking forward to meeting people next week.
I hope nobody is mean and makes me cry...
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:19, Reply)
Oooh oooh are you coming to London?

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:20, Reply)
No, sorry.
Just the PIER EXTRAVAGANZA!
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:22, Reply)

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:34, Reply)
Nope, we're going to The Pier

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:22, Reply)

You will regret saying that.
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:22, Reply)

I especially like Edinburgh Rock
Just saying...
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:33, Reply)
Well if you come to Edinburgh at new year then you can get some.

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:36, Reply)
Yes, and some rock.

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:56, Reply)
I was going to do that joke but thought better of it.

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 13:01, Reply)
Good job you dont work in the IT field then, really
oh...
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:11, Reply)
Yes it is
I really don't work in IT, I'm in telecoms, and my job really doesn't involve more than a passing knowledge of how even telecoms works.
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:19, Reply)
I'm glad telecommunications doesn't involve computers then

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:24, Reply)
I know this doesn't make a lot of sense really
My job is effectively reporting and troubleshooting. I only need to be able to use Outlook, Excel and Visio to do it - I think this maintains my "useless with computers" status.
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:25, Reply)
Visio is hard to use
You gain one internet geek point for this
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:29, Reply)
Fuck yeah!
That brings me to a new grand total of one!

It's hard to use WELL. Swim lanes and that aren't so difficult, that's all I can manage thus far.
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:32, Reply)
I dont even know what swim lanes are!
I use it for nice pictures of networks and computers (occasionally)
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:35, Reply)
Basically flow charts in landscape instead of portrait
completed correctly?

-YES- Order is processed

-OF COURSE NOT, THE MONGS- Email is sent with nice, clear bullet points explaining why they're mongs
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:39, Reply)
I see
*understands*
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:42, Reply)
Fifty quid says that's the most boring thing you learn today

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:44, Reply)
You underestimate my job
Today I have learned the names of the three Java caches created (Eden, Survivor and OldGen)

I challenge anyone to out-tedious that nugget
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:46, Reply)
Jesus
I'm glad I had my fingers crossed when I made that bet
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:50, Reply)
