There's a hospital complaints procedure, as you should well know. Going via the CQC at the first instance is fucking pathetic and involves needless effort and administration
OMG WE WEREN@T TREATED LIKE CHARLES AND DIANA YOU@RE ALL GONNA PAY BIG TIME
(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:22, 3 replies, latest was 14 years ago)
It was the consultant in A&E who suggested the CQC. Will try PALS also if that is appropriate.
Nobody expects the NHS to treat them like royalty, but the A&E bed policy is 4 hours not 9 and the place for an ill mother with a five week old baby is the post natal ward.
(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:25, Reply)
Good job those nice Tories are scrapping those needless time targets

(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:27, Reply)
Shit happens all the time, a nine hour wait in A&E is a common occurance irrespective of their guidelines.
If an A&E consultant suggested the CQC as the first stop for a routine file and bin complaint then he's got an axe to grind and enjoys having peoples time wasted no end. What a prick. There's a hospital complaints procedure for a reason, escalating it beyond that is fucking irksome. www.imperial.nhs.uk/patients/complaints/

So, are you telling me that if your wife (if you have one?) and your five week old daughter (if you have kids?) were left in A&E for nine hours, where (as Chompy correctly says) there is clinical and child protection risk (and you are not allowed to take the baby away from the mother) you'd be happy to ignore the advice given about how to complain?
(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:37, Reply)
Why would you bother responding to him?
Just ignore him, it's words on the internet, you know they're doing it to get a rise out of you.
(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:41, Reply)
I'm not rising Al - it's pretty clear from everyone's responses who is being reasonable...

(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:47, Reply)
ooh, ohh, let me guess...
it's Rory, isn't it? Rory. That's my answer.

No? Shit.
(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:52, Reply)
Having a child in A&E for 9 hours is stupid, there are many things stupid with the nhs, that is a part of life
Running off in tears to the CQC is fucking pathetic where there's a complaints guideline in place.
(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:43, Reply)
The staff would not allow me to take my baby away from her mother.

(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:48, Reply)
Fuck off Rory
He is worried about his wife and child. I'll take a guess in "Roryville" that is "fucking pathetic" too
(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:27, Reply)
Oh right so that entitles him to be top of the queue does it, king of the nhs eh?
I've got a fuck trophy here so I should have that bed or by Christ I'll be on to the CQC.
(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:34, Reply)
Except I'm a sneaky shit, so I'll wait until my wife has been treated

(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:35, Reply)
He has valid reasons for wanting to be transferred and you would do EXACTLY the same thing in his shoes

(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:36, Reply)
Every wanker is 'equally' important in A&E in their own minds, running off with the boo hoo's to the CQC and willfully ignoring the hospital complaints procedure is a fucking ballache

(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:39, Reply)
Well the triage Sister decided on the importance of it all initially and then the A&E consultant got involved because she agreed with what should happen.
As I explained, it was the consultant that told me to contact the CQC (I had never heard of it) and I will also contact PALS. So I am not willfully ignoring any procedure just following the advice given to me by a senior Doctor.
(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:44, Reply)
Yes, but will the overwhelming evidence still prevent Rory from having a bone-headed opinion?
Our survey says...
(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:47, Reply)
I don't see the CQC as the first port of call for a hospital complaint on the handy link up there.
You certainly seem to be ignoring that.
(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:49, Reply)
As did the consultant, so it would seem
Perhaps he/she thought it was serious enough to go straight there?
(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:50, Reply)
I'm not really willing to go off of what Battered has said, he's somewhat subjective here.
If the Consultant felt it such an important matter he wouldn't have allowed such a situation to exist for 9 hours. I'm pretty sure the Hospital would happily distance itself from his advise and refer the intrepid Battered to the handy link above.
(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:55, Reply)
Perhaps the consultant had only recently started shift?

(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:58, Reply)
Correct. She came on duty at 8pm.

(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:59, Reply)
As I have said I am also going to contact PALS.
Which is covered under Step One of the information supplied from the link you kindly provided.
(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:59, Reply)
They're not real email addresses.

(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:29, Reply)
HAHA!
And they aren't case sensitive either
(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:30, Reply)
Christ that winds me up
when people spell their e-mail address and say "it's all lower case". Fucking bellends.
(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:35, Reply)
Indeed.
Annoyingly I always type mine out with upper case letters for my initials, even though I know it makes no difference
(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:37, Reply)
Do you know what I do Al?
I just type it using ALL UPPER CASE LETTERS!1!1
That shows 'em.
(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:38, Reply)
I send them pictures of a flaming paper bag
and when they reply asking me what it was, I jump out from under their desk and smash a dog turd RIGHT IN THEIR STUPID FAT FACE!

Editted for spelling specialness
(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:42, Reply)
POIDH

(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:43, Reply)
What's a dog turn?

(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:44, Reply)
One woof for left, two for right

(, Tue 4 Oct 2011, 13:44, Reply)
On balance, that seems a measured, fair and appropriate response.
You're nothing if not reasonable Al.
