Is it evening thread time yet?
What's everybody been up to today?
(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 18:57, 82 replies, latest was 14 years ago)
Work, mostly.
Going to try to find some stupid comedy or something to take my mind off stuff I've been despondant about recently.
(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:02, Reply)
Yeah, I've been working today too, for a change.
It sucks. I need some adult conversation to cheer me up, but I can't be arsed to go out anywhere.

What's eating you, then?
(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:04, Reply)
Just down in the dumps.
Nothing i need to tell the internet about.

I marked 34 sketchbooks
i think i know some of the wikipedia entries by heart, now
:(

need a vague yet inspiring title for a photography project, any ideas?
(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:12, Reply)
also
what should I have for tea. I have: pasta, half a pepper, tomatoes in a can, an egg, some ham, some rice and not much else
(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:14, Reply)
Any herbs?

(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:16, Reply)
yes
green ones. I think I have basil and thyme, although no oregano.
(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:17, Reply)
OK.
Fry the pepper. Heat the tomatoes and add the basil (I'm assuming they're chopped tomatoes, if not, squish them up). Cut the ham into strips, chuck that in as well and do some pasta. Bob's your uncle. Put a sprinkle of sugar into the tomatoes while they're cooking as it takes the acidity away. Not too much, though.
(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:21, Reply)
OK - that's kinda similar what I tend to eat anyway
although I didn't know about the sugar thing.

I'm reaching my limit of being able to eat pasta, I think this is the source/sauce of my indecision today
(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:23, Reply)
You could do egg fried rice.
Not sure if one egg would be enough though.
(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:24, Reply)
I may have to leave the house and find something :(

(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:26, Reply)
One egg is enough.
She could add the ham and peppers to the fried rice too. Mind you it's always better to use rice that's been cooled down for frying.
(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:38, Reply)
I thought that too.

(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:44, Reply)
Excellent.
Ours were £32 I think, but we do have further to travel.
(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 20:00, Reply)
What do I owe you for the ticket back?

(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 20:04, Reply)
Not sure, I'll let you know.
Its about £32 but I'll double check.
(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 20:05, Reply)

(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 20:22, Reply)
What's it about?

(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:14, Reply)
that's the thing
we're setting it for students, needs to have a broad range of possibly responses
(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:15, Reply)
So you don't even have a theme?

(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:16, Reply)
that's the point
we give them a title, they interpret it and make photos. The theme we give them is pretty ambiguous then they work out their theme from it
(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:18, Reply)
The world of mongs?
They could then take candid shots at the fairground, the local bus station, Asda, Game... there are no limitations.

more than enough source material round here

(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:23, Reply)
I used to like those BBC website photo competitions
where they give you a word like 'stripe' or 'weathered'.

Open a book at a random page, pick the first word on the tenth line, and give them that.

A glass of wine
and Sisters Of Mercy 1987 This Corrosion single CD in my player, with the cat ignoring me. One copy one eBay is priced at £15.00 - I'm not sure if my £1.49 charity shop copy is worth that, but the disc comes in a paper sleeve! So sweet.
(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:19, Reply)
I've got the More CD single.
Which comes in a 12" gatefold sleeve.
(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:22, Reply)
I've never seen a CD in paper before
It's like a throwback to vinyl or something. Am I just being young? I wasn't even born in 1987.
(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:27, Reply)
That's just made me feel old now :(

(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:37, Reply)
CDs have a finite life. If that one is from 1987 then the film will start peeling relatively soon.

(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:24, Reply)
Hence I've imported the music
and am leaving it well alone. I don't want it ruined because of my stupid Macbook :(

I have had a fantastic day.
New jacket, passport turned up and managed to get a ticket for our game in Krakow next week despite it being sold out ages ago. Everything's coming up Barry.
(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:35, Reply)
I got a new jacket the other week.
It's awesome.
(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:39, Reply)
I went into the shop on Saturday and asked them to hold it for me for a few days.
When I bought it online they refunded me saying it'd sold out, I assumed they'd forgot about me and sold it to someone else, but when I went in today it turns out the person they'd sold/reserved it for was me. On top of that they had 15% off everything in store today so I got it for 170 instead of 200 smackers. Great, great days. I love it and it will keep me toasty warm in Poland next week cos it's lined with fur.
(, Wed 12 Oct 2011, 19:43, Reply)
Nice one.
I got mine for half price on eBay. £85 for a quality leather jacket. Not bad.

It's got funk, you can jiggle to the hi hats and there's a stern vocal.

What about this? This is the tune that changed my mind about house. I used to be all 'house is gay' then I got a mix by Yousef on the cover of a magazine back in 2001, and this was the opening track.

I was knocked off my bike by a van that didn't stop
10 miles from home so I rode home anyway. My right ankle is fucked as is my rear derailleur and my right arse cheek is gravel rashed. He didn't stop and I didn't get anymore than blue van as a description. I'm currently sitting with a red wine pain killer with my foot elevated with my wife tutting claiming I should go for xrays. Bugger that, I know for a fact they don't do xrays after 4pm at my local hospital and I'd rather stay here all night than wait there until morning. I reckon I'm ok though, it only hurts if I move it plus I managed 10 miles on it. Steak with mushrooms for supper!

Kitty O'Dull?
Noel?

There may be others I have temporarily forgotten. Delighted to find others still here though.

Other than that enjoying the feeling of freedom from resigning and looking forward to going to Guernsey this weekend for a wedding.

I just wanted to get in a Crinkly Bottom reference, and the verb was a toss up between 'flounced' and 'minced'.
