My name is very similar to a member of the Happy Mondays
who, incidentally, had about the same level of musical talent as I do.

Does that count?

No, HARRY WINKLER.

Would you really want to be the Fonz?
Guy in his forties hanging around with school kids. Creepy.

I'm 7 years away from being that anyway

MARK, 47 FROM SALFORD

(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 10:40, Reply)
Is he really only 47?
Christ, did you see that picture of the Stone Roses when they arranged those future cancellations? Time has not been kind
(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 10:43, Reply)
Couldn't care less
There aren't many good bands from Manchester, Stone Roses, Happy Mondays and Oasis being 3 of the worst.
(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 10:45, Reply)
You forgot Take That and Simply Red
Imagine how much hurt could have been alleviated if someone had thought to nuke the place in the early 80s

Also, The Bee Gees, Ting Tings, etc

(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 10:48, Reply)
I quite like the Stone Roses self titled offerring

(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 10:51, Reply)
I Am The Resurrection was an excellent tune
as was Waterfall and the other one, with the bass bit in. You know the one I mean. "The pack on my back is aching"
(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 10:52, Reply)
Actually, She Bangs The Drums is one of my all-time favourite songs
There are other decent tunes on that album but how it's attained deified status is beyond me
(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 10:58, Reply)
One of your all-time favourite songs? Really?
Have you not heard many songs?
(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 11:05, Reply)
the rest are by industrial sadcore bands so really it's a massive step up

(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 11:07, Reply)
I've never heard that song
My life is so empty
(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 11:07, Reply)
It's alright, if you are in your teens and it is the early '90s
But it does not really merit appearing in any "all-time favourite" lists.
(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 11:12, Reply)
I was at the time, but I was listening to Nirvana and such.

(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 11:13, Reply)
I'm aware that it's by no means a musical masterpiece
I love it for the nostalgia as much as anything else
(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 11:23, Reply)
When I was 18 I learned all of Squire's twiddly guitar bits to this song.
And I don't mean from a guitar tab off of the internet. I mean sitting with my finger on the pause button of a cassette player and learning it line by line.
I've moved on now, though...
(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 11:28, Reply)
I wish they'd off themselves.

I saw the Happy Mondays live a few years back
I only went because I thought "It's Great When Your Straight... Yeah" was great album and Black Grape had split and the Happy Mondays reformed so I thought, Why not? Then I found out why not.
(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 10:44, Reply)
Never been so cursed, thankfully
I imagine they're great live if you're absolutely munted on every conceivable drug. And in the band.
(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 10:45, Reply)
I've seen the Happy Mondays in Manchester, supported by Shed Seven
It was a good gig! I was not at all pissed as a fart, stoned and on E
(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 10:46, Reply)
All the MDMA in the world couldn't make you like Shed Seven though, surely?

(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 10:59, Reply)
I fucking love the Shed!

Possibly the worst live 'singing' voice I've ever witnessed.
Next to that Sumner wanker, anyway.
(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 10:56, Reply)
I was fucking gutted when I saw New Order live
I tried to put it down to being at Glastonbury and therefore about 2 miles from the stage
(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 10:59, Reply)
It wouldn't have made any difference.
I was near the front when I saw them at Reading and they were utterly shite. Musically they sounded OK, but absolutely zero stage presence and Sumner's vocals made Amy Winehouse in her more fucked up days sound like an angel.
(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 11:04, Reply)
I did wonder if Sumner was even trying
It's a mark of how crap they were that I fucked off to watch Kasabian before they even got as far as True Faith
(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 11:05, Reply)
You're doing it all wrong, Trotter
There must have been at least one band worth watching there?
(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 11:07, Reply)
My mates went to see the Magic Numbers

(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 11:23, Reply)
So your answer is: no
Actually, your fat guy (Romeo something?) is a pretty nifty guitarist, but I still would be looking around for another band to watch.
(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 11:25, Reply)
That's exactly what I was trying to convey
I quite liked Kasabian back then, before their shtick got tired. Decent live band too.
(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 11:31, Reply)
I'd rather eat my own poo than watch Kasabian
Then or now.
(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 11:33, Reply)
He was an arrogant prick.
The Mission were one of the headline acts that weekend. At one point he told the crowd "We don't want fucking Mission fans, we want fucking New Order fans". Cue about 2,000 Mission fans buggering off to the beer tent.
(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 11:09, Reply)
New Order are shit and Bernard Sumner is a cunt.
These are not opinions, but facts.
(, Thu 10 Nov 2011, 11:11, Reply)
I agree.
I don't mind some of the earlier stuff but anything after True Faith is utter wank.
