You still have this evening to improve your score, so do so otherwise your end of term report will read "capable of better, must try harder".

4 (at least I've had a relax, I've not spent so long in this arm chair before)

5 (would have been 1, but I managed a load of laundry and two loads of dishes today)
5 (the days have been okay, but the nights are horrendous. I keep coughing myself awake)
I took a photo this morning of a scooter for sale at the boot sale. The make was a TGB. Apparently it had only done 700 miles.

But I keep comparing my shots to other, better photographers, and they seem really .... I don't know what. Amateurish, I suppose. Maybe I'm just too close to them to judge.
(, Sun 15 Jan 2012, 19:24, Reply)
2.work out what makes their pictures ace (composition, light, tone, viewpoint, etc.)
3. do that.
4. practise - you don't get to be perfect at photography straight away, that's not how it works in anything else, why should photography be different? You've got a good start, now keep at it.
* or more documentary ones like Martin Parr, William Eggleston, etc.

You're perfectly qualified to give me advice in this field.
I keep thinking I like the composition of what I take, but when I come to process them it never seems to crop right, or the colour balance is off. I haven't ever studied photography, which is probably why. mr b3th studied for four years, and his pictures are absolutely excellent. Especially his portraits. The man has a real gift.
(, Sun 15 Jan 2012, 19:48, Reply)
* take your camera everywhere and whatever catches your eye, take a few shots of it
* learn the ins and outs of your camera and what each function does, so you can customise your shooting to the situation or outcome you want
* practice, practice, practice
Oh and your photos aren't as bad as you think they are. Try not to compare yourself with other photographers and enjoy taking pictures for YOU.

I keep spotting things out of the corner of my eye when I'm driving and thinking "That looks interesting" - like the angel in the graveyard. I drove past it at the start of the week and saw a couple of quirky buildings and stopped later in the week. The buildings were good but the graves, flowers and surrounding flora and fauna were much more interesting. It's a good excuse to go exploring.
(, Sun 15 Jan 2012, 19:55, Reply)
this, i reckon, is the problem with the 'one a day' approach.
Composition tip: look at the WHOLE of the viewfinder/LCD and arrange stuff in it. You control the picture and you are MAKING an image, not just taking a likeness of a thing.
Also, some pictures are best without the over-thinking. Photography is not always what people think it is.
(, Sun 15 Jan 2012, 19:52, Reply)
just publishing the one I like best out of teh ones I take. Well, mostly. There have been two days where I only managed one picture, so I just had to publish that one.

7 - I wanted to get my code on, but didn't, but I did clean the flat inside'n'out, imaculate, went shopping twice, found a really amazing local rib joint.
7 - It was a good time, did mostly everything I wanted to do, was very chilled out, I'm ready to start the week next week. It wasn't "fun" it it was what I wanted to do.

productive 4
enjoyed 4 [it was originally 3 but I added a point because I had a good time watching big bang theory this morning, and sheldon tickles my fancy]
my workings are thus: friday I was bored out of my mind, yesterday I spent a portion of the day cleaning my former residence, and then the other portion preparing for a date which was subsequently cancelled, and so I got into debt and had some wine, beer and vodka, didn't sleep well, woke with heart burn. I'm tired because I didn't get quality sleep, it wasn't productive because I didn't do anything of my own that needed to be done, and it wasn't enjoyable.

Productive - 90% - worked yesterday and today, and went out last night
Enjoyable - 25% - for last night. Work has primarily involved arguing with Eastern Europeans in Dewsbury about the condition they're leaving their properties in.
One for the EDL and Daily Mail - Eastern Europeans are leaving in droves at the moment due to vegball related opportunities back home.

I'm 9 out of 10 tired - This is due to not finishing work til 6 on friday, coming home and having to move the bedroom around. (never realised how much shit gets kicked under the bed) Then yesterday I installed new furniture and today I have done a 6 hour panto rehearsal. Now I have strained vocal chords as a result of not warming up properely before singing.
6 out of 10 productive - Done loads but not as much as I'd like (NEED MOAR HOURS)
3 out of 10 enjoyed - no booze, no lie ins and very little relaxation.

Tired - had a nice ride along the south bank of the Thames from Waterloo to Rotherhithe with 2 friends I can never manage to get in the same place at the same time.
Productive - Acheived very little in physical terms but, I managed the above ride, a guided walk around the 'Old City' of london yesterday and generally relaxed and enjoyed my self with people and doing things that I'm been wanting to do for a while. Oh, and now I think about it I've vaccumed, done the washing up and 2 loads of washing and fixed the lights on a bike.
Enjoyment - See above really, other than New Years I've not had a better weekend in aaaaages.
