Tuesday night OMG YOU SICK FUCK thread.
I posted this in /links earlier. It's a video done to accompany a track called Wash It All Off by You've Got Foetus On Your Breath. It basically features lots of bits of safety videos spliced together (along with some other random elements) and is possibly one of the most disturbing yet strangely compelling things I've seen in a while. And it's an ace track imo; takes me back to my late teens.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cUKaQpwYUA&feature=related

Probably NSFW due to the rather violent imagery (car crashes, people falling off things, JFK getting a bullet in the head etc).

What's the most disturbing thing you've seen lately?

Alt: What's for dinner? Assuming you're still having dinner.

I just had some lovely toasted muffins
washed down with DrPepper
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:33, Reply)
I've had carrots, cabbage, potato, peas and chicken stew.
With a cheesy roll. With lashings of pickled beetroot. It was nom.

I have no idea why I posted this here.

Could be.

(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:46, Reply)
I don't think I fancy watching that right now
I had fishcakes and chips and now I have a brew.

This brilliant post is brought to you in association with Twinnings
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:35, Reply)
lovely
I haven't had a chip shop fishcake in years
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:36, Reply)
I don't think I've had one, ever.

I used to like patties
when I was living in Hull
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:38, Reply)
patties?
I think I've mention here how, round our way, we used to order 'Smack and Chips'
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:39, Reply)
Battered mashed potato deep fried?

(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:40, Reply)
this vaguely rings a bell
smack was deep fried slice of potato. There are such culinary innovations in teh north west
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:41, Reply)
Its great isnt it?

(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:43, Reply)
yeah
I kinda miss it. My brother lives in London, now and is known by TWO local chip shops as 'Mush Peas', because he's about the only who orders them, and I think in one case the only reason they started selling them was his fault
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:45, Reply)
I'm from down south
The first time someone asked me to pick one up from the chippy, I asked "Duck or goose?"

dont you mean hand crafted frittes
slow fried in rosemary oil?
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:56, Reply)
haha

(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:59, Reply)
We call them dabs here.

(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:51, Reply)
dib dabs must have been odd round your way

(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:01, Reply)
it's hard to pick them when
there is sausage in batter on offer
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:39, Reply)
nah, it was one from me freezer
I might treat myself to chippy chips at the weekend when I move.
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:38, Reply)
You have to get a chippy when you move
its the law
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:39, Reply)
^this

(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:40, Reply)
but I'm moving over a couple of weeks
do I have to have chips every day?
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:40, Reply)
only on the first night to the letter of the law
but that will still put you at risk of a civil suit
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:41, Reply)
How about
the first day I move stuff, then the first night I actually sleep there?

That should cover it
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:42, Reply)
You are far too practical.
The idea is that you have to hunt for the vinegar and salt. I guess you'd pack yours in a special box all marked up ready.
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:45, Reply)
Get them to salt and vinegar them at the shop

(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:47, Reply)
but you always need MOAR vinegar

I drove 2000miles from Colorado to SF for work this august
So I'm guessing Memphis is a long way from you now that I have a newfound appreciation for US travel
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:03, Reply)
mapquest says it's 810 miles, about 12 hrs
which is about the same from here to chicago
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:06, Reply)

Not a bad video but god-awful 'music'
i wonder how long it will be before McDonalds get it banned?

Alt: Chili Cin Carne. Again.
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:49, Reply)
I love it.
Agreed that it's a bit Marmite though.

We're having chili tomorrow night. Carbonara tonight.
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:53, Reply)
Totally having veggie chilli tomorrow with brown rice.
How spooky is that.
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:54, Reply)
*Plays Twilight Zone music*

(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:56, Reply)
The chilli is leftovers. Makes everything a bit easier with a baby to look after.

(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:56, Reply)
I have not had carbonara for about a million years
I might try and make it properly sometime (rather than just making cheese sauce and putting bacon in it)
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:00, Reply)
Good carbonara is ace. Shame there's so little of it. 99.999% of it is shit.

(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:15, Reply)
Re the McDonalds thing
it's hardly mainstream, and was put together by an amateur with no affiliation the the artist, so I'd be surprised if it came to their attention.
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:55, Reply)
You'd be surprised. The more views it gets the more likely their (extensive) trademark protection department (yes they do have such people) will find it.

(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:57, Reply)
Somebody on links
was more disturbed by Ronald McDonald than the bloke scooping his brain out, chopping it up and then doing a line.
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:59, Reply)
I liked that part of the video.
A lot of people are scared of clowns so someone being disturbed makes sense.
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:03, Reply)
Unless they try anyway
and therefore make the whole thing go viral
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 18:58, Reply)
That would be fun...

(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:13, Reply)
Same dinner for me
it came out rather well I thought.

Good cheers, yourself?
How's the baby settling in?
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:17, Reply)
All good thanks.
baby is now 5 months old. Scary how quickly the time has gone. She is just starting to teethe. I would post a photo of her here but won't due to the inevitable photo-amending 'LOL's that would occur.

How about you?
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:19, Reply)
Fair enough, glad that everything is going so well
I'm alright thanks, still applying away, got a rather interesting looking internship that I'm hoping to get.
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:23, Reply)
Fingers crossed for you. Whereabouts are you looking?

(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:27, Reply)
Hahaha if I get it b3ta can mock the shit out of me for it
since it is a space in the public policy bit of an organisation a lot of people find despicable, and I'll have to lie like a champ to get it.

Looking in pr, advertising, policy etc. In fact do you mind if I drop you a gaz with a question?
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:31, Reply)
Please gaz me. Be my pleasure to assist if I can.

(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:34, Reply)
I saw this the other night and think it's full of awesome.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQox9W9jedw

Showed it to the missus and she just thinks it's depressing.
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:06, Reply)
Ha ha. "trapped in the ladies toilets for two weeks"
"Mike got run over by a BMW. He's strangely proud of that".

brilliant.

How did you find this?
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:13, Reply)
It was on channel 4 the other night dead late.

(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:30, Reply)
I deal with a great deal of poo on a daily basis
not exactly disturbing but close enough for me. Although I did cycle through a squished hedgehog last week. Again, not exactly disturbing but close enough.

Alt: breakfast cereal, for I am desperately impoverished.
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:09, Reply)
What kind of cereal?

(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:16, Reply)
Oat crisp or whatever it's called
it's got oats in it. And raisins.
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:21, Reply)
that sounds healthy

(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:23, Reply)
Well, it's more healthy than cheese on toast
which is my other option.
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:26, Reply)
But that contains CHEESE. Cereal doesn't.

(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:29, Reply)
Well if it does
you're doing it wrong, that's for sure. Besides, having read about that cheese restaurant that's opening in Chelsea today, I've sort of lost any enthusiasm I might have otherwise had this evening for supermarket double gloucester.
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:31, Reply)
I have not heard of this restaurant. Which annoys me give my absolute LOVE of cheese*
* I love cheese more than Gonz loves Lusty.
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 19:34, Reply)
Don't know about disturbing, but in my mind this was one of the strangest things to be shown on terrestrial TV. Even by that series's standards.

I had a creamy chicken, leek and mushroom pie with tarragon and a crispy puff pastry top
a little English mustard on the side; I put it to you that 'dijon' mustard is bent
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 20:06, Reply)
Dijon is perfectly serviceable, I find.
But yeah, English all the way. I also love wholegrain.
(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 20:11, Reply)
mustard WHORE!

(, Tue 17 Jan 2012, 20:15, Reply)

part english mustard, part wholegrain, part horseradish. Marvellous stuff.
