We need to upsize
Unfortunately this will change our mortgage repayments from their current £Fuckall to a crippling £Loads.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 12:39, 1 reply, 14 years ago)
Mine will be jumping to around 40% of take home earnings now that we need more space and the wife isn't earning

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 12:41, Reply)
I think we pay around £900 a month as we overpay

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 12:42, Reply)
*cries*

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 12:44, Reply)
At current rates, I'll be paid off in 2023 I think

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 12:44, Reply)
£900 is less than i will be renting my 1 bed flat out for when we move

I may have a found silver lining to the dark cloud of "the North"

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 12:48, Reply)
Indeed
We want to move nearer to the good school which is also near the seafront. This will cost more for a lot less but hey-ho
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 12:49, Reply)
Why on earth did you need six bedrooms?

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 12:50, Reply)
All the cool kids have six bedrooms

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 12:51, Reply)
fo' shizzle Rory

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 12:52, Reply)
We didn't
It was sold as a 4 bedroom house but it also has a study and box room which you can easily fit a bed in. We bought the biggest house we could afford as we knew the prices would rocket up once the rest of the estate and amenities were built afterwards
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 12:52, Reply)
Presumably until the arse fell out of the economy

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 13:11, Reply)
It is still worth about £60K more than we bought it for

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 13:17, Reply)
Well that's something anyway.
Mine is worth probably £100K more than I paid for it, but I've been in it for 16 years.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 13:26, Reply)
Current rates are ludicrously low.

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 12:47, Reply)
*does paying off massive amounts of mortgage dance*

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 12:49, Reply)
You need to dance a lot harder if you're taking 12 years to pay it off.
You'd probably be better off sticking the extra cash you're paying into a pension scheme instead. Or buying something else to let.

Disclaimer: this does not constitute independent financial advice and I won't be held responsible if you're homeless and starving in five years

Meh
I'm going for mortgage free plus sports car at 45
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 12:57, Reply)
Tsk.
You yoofs and your reckless disregard for retirement.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 13:00, Reply)
My pension is quite good from here TBH
I also need to save up post-mortgage for kids Uni fees, etc.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 13:02, Reply)
Fuck 'em.
A bit of student penury will do them good. As soon as they're out the door, buy yourself an Aston Martin and bugger off somewhere hot.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 13:04, Reply)
I was hoping for both
Perhaps if I could sell one of them for organ donations?
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 13:05, Reply)
If this is illegal then it's political correctness euromadness gorn mad.

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 13:28, Reply)
How much for the boy?

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 13:33, Reply)
Yours for only £30K

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 13:42, Reply)
I paid a lot less than that for the last child I bought
To be fair she did have a bit of a funny eye though
