Yeah this current base rate of 0.5% REALLYBOILSMYPISS!!11!!!!!!!

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:25, 1 reply, 14 years ago)
Yeah, it fucks me off.
I'm paying way over the odds on my mortgage and I'm getting piss all on my savings.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:27, Reply)
Might be worth paying the early redemption and going trakker
Low base seems to be on the cards for some time to come
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:30, Reply)
NOOOO!
Leave your tracker where it is.

Do NOT piss about with mortgages right now.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:31, Reply)
He's fixed on an uncompetitive rate by the sounds of it

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:32, Reply)
But only until September.

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:34, Reply)
there's a green day connection in there
base should still be low/the same by then
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:35, Reply)
I don't see it rising significantly this year

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:37, Reply)
I need to find out what the standard variable is actually
According to a few websites it might be about 4%.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:39, Reply)
sounds about right, unless you have a significant deposit, 50% plus
in which case you might do better
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:40, Reply)
Nah, I think we've paid down to just over 80% LTV at the moment.

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:42, Reply)
If you can get 4% grab it.
I've been shopping and am looking 4.5% best.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:42, Reply)
I need to look at the paperwork and double check what it's going to revert to.
If it's anything like 4% I'll leave it at that and just keep an eye out to see what happens in the future. We can always remortgage at a later date.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:43, Reply)
Hold at 4%
You'll probably be locked in for five years - you may or may not be giggling at the end of the term.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:47, Reply)
No, you misunderstand, my fixed rate period is over, I won't be locked in for any time at all
I'll be free to remortgage at any time.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:49, Reply)
Yes I misunderstand
Take it.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:55, Reply)
Base will hold for a good time yet.

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:39, Reply)
Mixed messages as usual, but in general low base for some time to come
which is nice for 1% over base commercial lendings
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:40, Reply)
I read it again and realised
The best I've seen recently is 4.5% which is still good.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:35, Reply)
^I'm being helpful for a change

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:32, Reply)
You're often very helpful.
This is why I persevere with your nasty phases.

Not doable unfortunately.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:49, Reply)
Oh not you too.
Clenders is already quaffing it by "flying to Japan".
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:52, Reply)
Don't make me feel any more guilty than I already do.
I'll make it up to you at Donnington.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:54, Reply)
If I make you feel more guilty, will you make it up to me more?

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:55, Reply)
Hell yeah!
I'll swallow.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 21:05, Reply)

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:51, Reply)
4.3 miles

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:52, Reply)
I ran 6.5k just now.
Piece of piss, it's the next 15 weeks of running progressively further each time that's scaring the shit out of me.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:52, Reply)
Vipros will drive along in his van as your course support, you'll be fine

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 21:04, Reply)
I am I the only one to notice you're mentioning the distance in kilometres to make it sound you've run further than you have?
Do you think it sounds more impressive than saying you've run 4.03891 miles (if you ran exactly 6.5km)
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 21:30, Reply)
Fixed rate period ends in September
Standard variable is currently lower than our old fixed rate.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:32, Reply)
fixed high did you?

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:30, Reply)
Well, we fixed, and then rates went up so we were quids in for about a year
then they went down and we lost out. Well, I say lost out, it's not really a problem, we can afford the repayments and it meant not having to worry about interest rates for a good while.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:34, Reply)
we own our place outright thanks to my wife's parents.
Thank fuck.

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:54, Reply)
A bit squiffy : )
Have I told you how much I love you?
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:55, Reply)
You could never tell me that enough.

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:58, Reply)
I'm telling everyone to be honest.
There's bound to be a divorce with someone a few years down the line. Lol
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:59, Reply)
Did they die and leave you lots of money?
I hope they died.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:50, Reply)
Nah. We'll get more when they do. Trying to patient about this but it's a struggle when you see somewhere larger that you'd like to buy.

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:53, Reply)
Gee Whizz here's a spectacular addition to the family

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 20:55, Reply)
I know. Aren't they lucky.

No idea why.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 21:25, Reply)
To be fair, I would do the same as this if I was in their position.

I solved the mortgage problem by marrying an old man.
His mortgage was paid off a few years ago. I say 'his' because it's still technically his house (my name isn't on the deeds.
Probably not the ideal solution for everyone.
(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 21:06, Reply)
I don't want to marry an old man.

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 21:08, Reply)
Yeah, it's not for everybody.

(, Tue 24 Jan 2012, 21:09, Reply)
Fifty grand and I'd marry an old man.
