I decided to get a beer last night after work
Nipped to Tesco, saw there was an offer on of 4 large bottles of Stella for £5, thought I'd get that, then have the other 2 tomorrow.

Nope.

Ow, my head.

I've got some great tips for stealing sweets from the pick and mix at Tesco.

Woodforde's brewery now does "beer boxes" by mail order
18 or 36 pints. I've ordered one to see what they're like. The weekend may be blurry.

THat looks like either a great, or a terrible idea
Possibly even both.
(, Thu 13 Sep 2012, 9:24, Reply)
I'll find out soon......
Hopefully it'll be like a wine box and suitable for a pint every so often over a couple of weeks or so, if it has to be drunk within a week of opening things. could get messy.
(, Thu 13 Sep 2012, 9:28, Reply)
Very much so.
Spikeypickle of these pastures has made cider on a couple of occasions which needed to be drank quickly. That stuff was fucking evil.
(, Thu 13 Sep 2012, 9:29, Reply)
What's the beer like?
I would expect it to be cheaper than it is, especially directly from the brewery.
(, Thu 13 Sep 2012, 9:26, Reply)
I had a mixed box of theirs last year
all were excellent. Their "Ketts Rebellion" is what I'm looking at, £30 plus £3.50 delivery for 18 pints, so £1.90 a pint or so.

(, Thu 13 Sep 2012, 9:22, Reply)
No, it's more a
bottle of fizzy chemicals and alcohol.
(, Thu 13 Sep 2012, 9:22, Reply)

(, Thu 13 Sep 2012, 9:23, Reply)
That Leffe's not too bad
On the whole I'm not too fond of lager anyway, but Stella is just rank.

Leffe Brun cold from the fridge is fucking magnificent

(, Thu 13 Sep 2012, 9:33, Reply)
Thresher did two exclusive varieties of Leffe back in the day
One of them was spicy and had bits floating in it. As you've probably gathered, I don't know what the bits were. But it was fantastic.
Threshers folded, so Leffe stopped making it. Sad times.

Firestoker was bloody wonderful
Brewed with cherries and vanilla, but didn't taste of either. Just a nice, warming pint.
*tear rolls enigmatically down cheek*
(, Thu 13 Sep 2012, 9:39, Reply)
If memory serves, I think the other one was a strong one
6.5% or something. That was ok, but I'm not that keen on strong lager.
(, Thu 13 Sep 2012, 9:37, Reply)
Innes and Gunn for the high alcohol win.

Old Tom
That puts hairs on your chest.
(, Thu 13 Sep 2012, 9:39, Reply)
It also tastes of absolute shite.
My grandad used to drink it.
(, Thu 13 Sep 2012, 9:40, Reply)
Yeah, it's not great

(, Thu 13 Sep 2012, 9:41, Reply)
That did for me at a friend's wedding a couple of years ago.
During the wedding breakfast I was one of two people drinking the red wine on the table, which was fine.
But in the evening I was happily knocking back those little bottles of Innes & Gunn like pop.
The evening ended with me vomiting on my shoes.
I'm nothing, if not classy.

Last night's tour of the lagers
was Blue Moon, Hoegaarden, Amstel and Estrella.

Apart from Amstel they are all acceptabe brews. The Amstel is obviously a penalty pint, but the King's Wark only serves Amstel and Heineken, the cunts.
(, Thu 13 Sep 2012, 9:36, Reply)
Amstel is great!
Hoegaarden is dangerous
(, Thu 13 Sep 2012, 9:37, Reply)
hoegaarden ruins your guts. It's the Gonz of wheat beers.

(, Thu 13 Sep 2012, 9:38, Reply)
I've had Hoegaarden, that's ok
Not tried the others though. Perhaps I'll give them a try.
(, Thu 13 Sep 2012, 9:38, Reply)
estrella's just a spanish lager, but it's pretty good.
Blue Moon is a meerkan wheat beer. They seem to insist on serving it with a slice of orange in it. Weirdos.
(, Thu 13 Sep 2012, 9:40, Reply)
Orange? That's strange

(, Thu 13 Sep 2012, 9:40, Reply)
Blue Moon is lovely
