THere was a guy on here, it might have been Lokesy actually,
who tried to convince me that the power cable you used on your amp could actually make a difference to the sound quality.

Haha brilliant.

As someone who sneers at 'audiophile' shit, I have to say that when I bought decent speaker cables the difference was enormous.

Like my cock.

THere is a difference between using bell wire and using the stuff that costs a 2-3 a metre
but there is no discernable difference between that and the stuff that costs £10 a metre.

But... gold, Al. GOLD.

(, Thu 27 Jun 2013, 14:49, Reply)
Is less conductive than copper.

Dunno, I use hemp for my speaker cables.

In which case, gold will be a serious step up in sound reproduction for you.

Gold is just to stop the connectors corroding
Using it anywhere else is BS.
(, Thu 27 Jun 2013, 15:20, Reply)
Although the funniest example by fat is gold plated Toslink connectors
Which are fibre optic, so the gold does the square root of fuck all.

It's an engineering thing.
The standard cables are cheaply manufactured, so you'll get badly made connections, which is the point at which you'll lose quality. Once you're in the price point of getting decently manufactured terminals, you're pretty much at the pinnacle. Anything more expensive and it's pure profiteering.

Like wine:
£2.99 and £10 wine - chalk and cheese. £20 wine and £2k wine - at best cheese and cheese, quite possibly cheese and vinegar.

Not sure where I'm going with this analogy

(, Thu 27 Jun 2013, 14:56, Reply)
Cheese

(, Thu 27 Jun 2013, 14:56, Reply)
I was thinking cheese and vinegar.......PICKLED ONIONS!!!!!

(, Thu 27 Jun 2013, 15:05, Reply)
Pretty much, yeah.
Law of diminishing returns, innit. It'll be the difference between a Stilton and a Roquefort. At best an expert might be able to tell the difference, but most people will think "it tastes like blue cheese, you lying fucking snob"
(, Thu 27 Jun 2013, 14:58, Reply)
the thing about cheese is that there's a lot of difference in the texture
whereas wine is all wet

(unless it's dry, hahaha)

When did you buy your new cock then?

(, Thu 27 Jun 2013, 14:49, Reply)
After I snapped the old one off in your wife's shitpipe.

(, Thu 27 Jun 2013, 14:53, Reply)
I wondered what the blockage was
