French in "snobby about food" shock
www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-23090455

If they did that here half the pubs in Britain would stop doing food. What truth in advertising law would you like to see?

alt: Favourite pub meal? Favourite home cooked meal?
(, Fri 28 Jun 2013, 14:40, 77 replies, latest was 12 years ago)
No they wouldn't, they just couldn't state it was a "home made" meal.
Which a lot of people would be fine with, but not everyone.
(, Fri 28 Jun 2013, 14:42, Reply)
If I order food in a pub I go to one where I expect it to be freshly made
Unless its a basket meal then I couldn't give a fuck. It depends on how much I am paying really.
(, Fri 28 Jun 2013, 14:50, Reply)
What on earth is a 'basket meal'?

(, Fri 28 Jun 2013, 15:11, Reply)
Soup in a basket. Old school.

(, Fri 28 Jun 2013, 15:44, Reply)
With pubs it boils down to how quick and cheap you want it
If you want it quick and cheap it'll be pre-prepared and microwaved, if you want it prepared and cooked individually you'll have to wait and the cost will be higher. I don't see a problem with this as long as it's stated up front.

alt: best pub meal I had recently was venison, it was NOM.
(, Fri 28 Jun 2013, 14:55, Reply)
Does sound good
I've had some fairly terrible pub meals, the roast beef Sunday dinner I had a couple of weeks ago was pretty good though.
(, Fri 28 Jun 2013, 15:08, Reply)
The roast in The Approach by Victoria Park is fucking outstanding.
Best I have had in London.

I've been looking at Burger Me!
it's a "blog" - he basically reviews posh burgers. The Admiral Codrington over by Swipey gets 10/10.

I've never heard of that one

we should go. We could invite Swipe to come watch us eat meat.

I'd like to insist on proportionally-correct (nationally) racial mix in ads.
So instead of those patronising fucking box-ticking one darkie, one chinky/paki, one honky ads, they should truly reflect our GREAT NATION.

tl:dr no wogs on my telly, thank you.

fuck I hate the m6 so much
Why can't the majority of this fucking country drive properly? Fucking stamdstill waste of my time...

Anyway gonz, their lease should have a clause that they won't cause a nuisance or annoyance to any other resident. But you can't enforce this as you aren't a party to his lease. So in turn you need to check your lease for a clause enabling you to get the landlord to enforce it. Which you would have to fund. Sooooo no. Stick with shitting on their mat.

I ate a Taste the Difference chicken jalfrezi - and you know what?
I sure did taste the difference alright! It was totally different from a nice, tasty curry, it was disgusting - and the bitch has been repeating like Frank's 'internet persona' ever since. I feel like shit.

Thanks, John Sainsbury!! (not really!!!!)

You would have been better off, getting one from the curry counter at ASDA

I can't remember the last time I had a ping-meal, especally a curry one, but ASDA do a "Tandoori Masala" that was alright.
You tried the Sharwoods indian stuff? As someone who doesn't generally love indian food, I think its alright.

I've been watching "Rick Stein in India" Mon. nights BBC2
They use this little grinder that takes both dried and wet ingredients, I must look into where you can get them, so I can make my own marinades and rubs.

It's a good show isn't it?
I'd love to see the outtakes where Rick has had a few too many Kingfishers in the sun and starts taking swings at the producer and camera crew.
