America is MASSIVE - people get snooty about "Oh half of them don't have passports" - they don't NEED passports. The place is like melding Norway through Yurp to Africa, and equally varied. It's great.
Like everywhere it has it's share of wankers and great people. The service industry knocks the British into a cocked hat, and also they have Winona Ryder so that wins everything.
Altalt: depends. My dad has a full beard, because when he was in his 20s he was hitchhiking around Europe and it was too much hassle to shave. He firmly believes that either one has a beard - in order to avoid shaving - or one doesn't. Shaving AND having a beard is ridiculous. Thus he thoroughly enjoyed watching me go through my 20s.

Snootiness about America I encounter I find really annoying, not to mention ignorant.

I'd probably not have one now if you didn't need it for Europe.

if you only get 10 days a year, you're perhaps less likely to go abroad, as you won't want to spend 2 of them on an aeroplane.

and is also the reason why you seem them haring around Europe at 1000 miles an hour completing some exhausting checklist of photo ops, the poor sods.

there are also plenty of places I haven't been I would not like to go, because we have things called 'Television' and 'The Internet' that tell you about places without you having to go there. limited I grant you but it makes more sense that visiting every corner of the globe just so you can decide which bits you like.

Writing off an entire continent - especially one that size - is pretty difficult.
It's one thing saying "Midsomer Norton is shit", it's another saying "I wouldn't like to go to Somerset."

I said " I can think of few places I'd less like to go to than America" and I think you read this as "I hate america, all Americans are thick fat and stupid and I'd like the whole continent to fall into the sea" and then added "I've never been there or met an american and am basing all this of watching TV shows".
I'm just not that interested, this may also be because there are a whole long list of European places I'd like to visit and quite a few non-Europe + non-america places too. Now granted I'm not being overly positive about the place and I'm sure they have some lovely bits, but I reserve the right to not be interested in going there with out justifying myself to your silly over-blown internet anger.
