Do you think baptism is relevant or important?
m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-24615297
Are you baptised?Kids done? For faith reasons or just rite of passage?
Alt, breakfast or Buckfast?
(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 8:03, 107 replies, latest was 11 years ago)
it's only really relevant if you're a Christian

(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 8:07, Reply)
Other faiths have it too don' they?

(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 8:09, Reply)
dunno
Probably called sutin different innit. I'll ask the currymuncher bird at work what the muzzers call it.
(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 8:17, Reply)
Or Pookie.
So, not very, really.
(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 9:32, Reply)
I was baptized, proper like, full immersion, as a young teenager who believed in that Jesus chap.
Then I got well into booze drugs and chicks innit.
(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 8:17, Reply)
booze and chicks is a noble pursuit

(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 8:17, Reply)
They're my two favourite things.

(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 8:24, Reply)
I have spent a lot of time and money on booze and chicks.
I see it as an investment.
(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 8:28, Reply)
I see it as a gamble.

(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 8:31, Reply)
nah, gambling implies chance
Investment involves performance management, target setting and good timing.

So you get drunk and sleep with Prozzies? Well done.

(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 8:36, Reply)
no
That's not how it works.
(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 8:39, Reply)
It's not got the best rate of return
but it's not the winning, it's the taking part.
(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 9:19, Reply)
Relevant or important to what?
I have never been indoctrinated into any religious organisation, nor would I allow my kids to be.
Alt: Combine the two?
(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 8:49, Reply)
It's not relevant or important.
But since it is irrelevant, it's also hardly harmful to me, and as my wife is religious and so are her family, it was no problem for me to have my child christened to keep them happy.

LOL not really I had her christened so that Rory could get upset and call me a hypocrite.
(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 9:18, Reply)
we all need to give the little guy something to get excited about from time to time

(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 9:20, Reply)
I think he was pretending to be upset, though
I don't think he really cares, swipers, and that's what hurts the most.
(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 9:23, Reply)
well, badge, i used to agree with you
but these days, i think we're all he's got

(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 9:29, Reply)

That's how I'd like to feel
But recently, he's being demonstrating that he's not the unimpeachable source of wisdom and correctness that we all wish he was, Pookers.

you wait, this preference thing is going to bite your perfectly formed arse. one of my earliest memories is screaming for a particular cassette in the car ("rumours", or "tangla tangla" as i called it, because of the guitar bit in the opening track), and that was long before i went to school...........

Kebab pizza from Iceland.
Just read about fryinh pan pizzas, new one on me, might give that a blast tonight.
(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 9:48, Reply)
Good god
I guess Iceland stocks this sort of rubbish so that other supermarkets don't have to.
I can see a frying pan pizza working...you'd probably have to grill it afterwards I guess.
(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 9:52, Reply)
Yrah you do. Iceland do do them, was mentioned here yesterday.

(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 9:59, Reply)
Imma try that
Found a recipe that recommended roasting some vegetables, then putting them on top when they're done. This is just crazy enough to work.
(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 10:01, Reply)
I tend to start pizza bases off in a massive frying pan
as I don't have an oven that can get to 400 C.
(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 9:55, Reply)
i heard you had a tornado

(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 9:37, Reply)
Yeah
Well, Hayling. But it's pretty near by. My Auntie lived there until about 3 weeks ago.
(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 9:38, Reply)
I don't think she's in Hayling any more, Toto

(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 9:40, Reply)
It's a shame really
Hayling has a lovely stretch of beach, but everything there is so grotty. Their video arcades are full of cast-offs from Southsea. They have the old Star Wars machine that I used to play on when I was a kid.
(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 9:42, Reply)
see almost every seaside town in britain, ever
bournemouth was the same. beautiful beach, the town centre is so so so depressing.
(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 9:44, Reply)
We took my in-laws to Bournemouth for their 50th wedding anniversary a few years ago and the beach was filthy.
I quite like that you can walk from the beach to the town centre through a park though
(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 9:47, Reply)
we stayed at a chocolate themed hotel
all the rooms were named after chocolate, and there was unlimited free chocolate in your variety in your room (as i was there with a friend, we had the "white chocolate" twin room) and the reception had a free chocolate fountain etc. i think we would have really liked bournemouth if it hadn't pissed it down the entire 4 days, so there was NOTHING to do except go to space nk and spend £50 on a candle for the 4th day in a row.
(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 9:51, Reply)
Balls, I've got skullfuckingly drunk on many occasions in several locations in Bournemouth.
There's plenty to do. Well, if you include "getting drunk"
(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 9:56, Reply)
night time and drinking, aye
but during the day?
(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 10:00, Reply)

No, I don't. Pointless ritual for an outmoded belief system.
I'm baptised, but only because 1980 was basically the middle ages and it was something people expected you do.
(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 9:54, Reply)
Same as me, can't even remember who my godparents were.

(, Tue 22 Oct 2013, 9:57, Reply)

Morning.
Was baptised but not a believer.
It's relevant to 120,000 sets of parents a year who get their kids christened in church but not sure what the relevance is.
