So.... on the 23rd
I'll be attending the big-b3ta-bash, i'm looking forward to putting faces to the names!

Then you can all slap me upside the head in real life! Woo.

Is there really 29 people going as it said on the calendar? If you're not going, why not! (Ex-pats excluded)

I
have done a few meet-ups on a previous forum (606 footie on BBC before they ruined it) and the first hour or so was a bit surreal, but by pint number 2 the place was rocking.

im slightly dreading it but will be there, still haven't decided an evening plan, might be a very late / early morning train home to cambridge an a sleep in the car.

I'll probably not come
Mainly because I'm a fraidy-cat and will certainly bottle it.
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 13:44, Reply)
I'll be quite sober but sat on some young man's knee.
*joking*

I think.

Edit - @Kroney - this is a special qotw bash for fraidycats so you'll be ok.
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 13:46, Reply)
I'd like to come
especially after having met some of the lovely people

unfortunately prior engagements (surfing and camping) prevent it
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 13:47, Reply)
@Kroney
see my post, once the beer is flowing its usually ok, fuzzy duck and thumbmaster are good ice-breakers!
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 13:50, Reply)
It's my first time
So you'll all have to be gentle. I'm a bit of a fraidy cat too, being a geek and all. Never the less, i'll be there to meet you all!
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 13:55, Reply)
I wish I could come sooooooo much :(
At least I get to see some people on Frdiay!

*does excited dance*

My self and la Chickenlady
Are going, but we're going to have to cut it short.

My brother - due to fly off to Australia forever - is having his leaving do on the evening of the 23rd, so I have to be in two places at once.

Chickenlady is an extremely understanding lass.
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 13:59, Reply)
i'll
be at a hen do, sadly. celebrating yet another friend about to disappear into married life forever and ever. *bitters*

even worse, the venue has been moved from ibiza....... to GLOUCESTER. nothing wrong with gloucester. except the lack of sun, sea, sand, clubs. meh. on the plus side, we are having a very classy "butler in the buff".

expect to see lots of pictures!
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 14:11, Reply)
I'll be there...
And I may even wear tights to live up to my name!

Before the first bash I went to, I was shitting a brick. But after a drink or two we were all getting on like a house on fire!

Have you ever been in a burning house? ;)

Come along, Kroney, it'll be fine! *assures*
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 14:26, Reply)
I'm looking forward to it
But am also incredibly nervous. I can be quite shy at the best of times.
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 14:26, Reply)
^But you're an Empress!
If you don't like us you could have us beheaded.

(I'm quite a shy person too, in fact I think a lot of us are, so we'll all muck in together and it'll be fine!)
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 14:31, Reply)
Meh!
A rare foray in here and I see al is casting aspersions on my motives, dammit!

My excuses, therefore:
My head has been up my ass of late - I mean, more than usual - and I'm having a bit of a rough time. Partying (if I dare use the word 'party' as a verb) is not one of my strengths at the moment. Also, my increased lithium dose means I'm crashing out exhausted on the dot of 3.30pm every day and have hand tremors that would make a Parkinson's sufferer weep shakily. Lying on my sofa, laptop on lap and spewing vitriol, venom and cynicism is much more fulfilling in my life right now. I'm so well-adjusted, eh? What?

Well, maybe I'll be a bit better by then and will turn up and share the love but rather than inflict my misery on you all, I'm probably better staying at home self-medicating with red wine and sleeping pills. And I wonder why my kidney function tests might be dodgy...

Anyway, I'm sure it'll be ace. There'll be other bashes, eh?
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 14:32, Reply)
Not sure if I can make it
have a really long day on the Sunday, and would be at least an hour's drive, so early night!
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 14:48, Reply)
I am not scared in the slightest about meeting anyone.
For a number of reasons.

1. I am old and past caring what people think of me.

2. If it all goes pear-shaped, I can disappear off this website and you'll never see me again.

3. I'll be far too worried about travelling on the underground, (is claustraphobic), to think about meeting a bunch of strangers in the big city.
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 14:57, Reply)
Why worry?
When you have already been invited? And by friends (albeit internet ones).
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 15:02, Reply)
Woohoo!
Don't be nervous- I hid round a corner at the first one but it would appear that we're not a bunch of internet weirdos, and it has led to meeting some ace people.
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 15:37, Reply)
^ Yes
We're all lovely chaps and chappeses.

*gets chloroform*
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 16:06, Reply)
^
That is just sooo 90s. Funky Cold Medina.
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 16:10, Reply)
Eep!
Ok, but if you see a dark-haired nervous looking young lady scuttling around in a corner, that's probably me. Be gentle!
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 16:19, Reply)
I'll be there...

But the reason I haven't yet put my name down properly is because it relies (as usual) on the kindness of sweet Captain Placid.

and the selfish fuckpig has shagged off on holiday for a couple of weeks and so can't 100%confirm.

as they said in medieval times....fuck-eth

@Empress
you can pre-book corners to lurk in at the pub, you get a corner obviously, pillow, a stash of beer mats and a little flag to wave when you want another drink
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 16:40, Reply)
I can't be sure 'cos I can't remember when the in-laws are leaving...
...and either they'll still be here (most likely), or they'll have just gone and it would be rude for me to say "Bye - I'm off to Lunnen to get squiffy with a bunch of people I've never actually met. Don't know ehn I'll be back!"
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 16:46, Reply)
I'll be there.
I won't make a drunken mess of myself this time.

Well, maybe I will.
I'll try not to slice my finger open though.
Or be sick down myself.
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 16:47, Reply)
@Pooflake
Me and my hotel mini-bar will be waiting *wink*
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 16:52, Reply)
@Kaol
Your drunken mess was the stuff of legends... And we didn't even see it!
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 16:57, Reply)
Haha!
*blushes*

Well, what can I say?
I don't do things by halves, if something's worth doing, it's worth doing hard.

EDIT: I'm looking forward to meeting you.
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 16:59, Reply)
I can't go...
but if I could, I definitely would.

I understand the fraidyness - not knowing anyone and thinking they'll be all cliquey etc. But I swear it's not like that; all the b3tans I've met so far have been lovely and normal.
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 17:26, Reply)
I'm skint!
Boooo!
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 18:47, Reply)
Damn
I got left behind, had to pop out for a bit to enjoy the sun in sunny Spain! Oops, sorry.. didn't mean to rub it in.

I shall be looking out for Kaol's so-called antics, jsut have to make sure he's sick down himself, not me! Do b3tans do Virtual Hugs... in real life?
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 18:53, Reply)
@Axai
You betcha!
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 19:09, Reply)
@bgb
Do i hear a woo and a yay?
I'm really looking forward to it, but as i said im a friady cat. Even though i've met two of my Girlfriends by FLYING OUT TO MEET THEM.

(Ex-girlfriend: Canadian, i flew to canada)
(Current girlfriend: Canadian, i flew to madrid).

Yup, i'm crazy.
(, Tue 5 Aug 2008, 19:12, Reply)
@ancrenne
Well that's alright then.
I don't care much for people trying to snog me, so i'll make sure i shave off my beard (fluff).

Has Kaol been known to snog bearded women? *Shudder*
