Evening All
Mr Bin just asked what three things would you take on Ready Steady Cook to really piss them off?
Alaphabites, Crispy Pancakes and Potato Waffles was my choice, how about you?

Mr Maladicta lives on tinned spaghetti and the cheesy ones (and orange juice to keep the scurvy at bay).
For me, I think it would have to be Micro Chips, Super Noodles and packet soup.

Curries are another good example.

I find that the key to a good Yorkshire pudding is to have the fat (as a veggi I use sunflower oil) as hot as you can and the batter as cold as you can. Once the yorkshires are in the oven DO NOT open the door for 20 minutes.

I posted a story today, and it's gonna make it to "best of" at this rate.
WTF?
There're several options.
1) QOTW is cliquey as hell and my legions of fans have been clicking away.
2) All the other QOTW entries sucked this week, so it got high up on a few clicks.
3) I'm just awesome. Very awesome.

Mortgages scare me.
I need someone to leave me some land in their will, then I'll build my own house.

just seems like too much of a hassle. Sure it's your own place and all, but you're the one stuck with stuff when it goes wrong. I've been lucky with landlords though and never had one that's had a problem with me decorating however I like and fixing things when they break. Not allowing me pets at my current on is a bit of a fucker though.

..and not in the good, who made them, way
We should all live in tents and migrate with the seasons. The Alps in winter and the Med in summer would do nicely.
On the flip side though, I made the decision a few years back to destroy my mortgage as quickly as possible, and with various saving, overpaying and get-rich-quick schemes, I should be mortgage free by March next year at the latest. Sooner if possible. Screw you Nationwide.

All this talk of food tonight has made me monumentally hungry.
In my head, buying property is just the done thing, like when I chose to go to uni, so I imagine I'll end up doing it, and making it into a technological wonderland.

re: shipping containers.
This was the one thing that got me about Firefly. I love the series to bits, but in (I think) the first episode, the crew end up meeting a contact in this place which is built up from shipping containers.
I just kind of thought that by the time we've colonised other planets, we might have abandoned the standard ISO container format....

I used to be really really materialistic and have tons of stuff, but in the last few years I've downsized my life and am happier for it. I always wanted to be minimalist as clutter and crap drives me mad. Don't get me wrong, I still have plenty of clutter, but it's organised better now.
Night Mrs L
I'm off to bed as well. Late start tomorrow, but still recovering from yesterday. Edit: Forgot to say, some of the pressure is off now as we have a locum starting next week, but she doesn't start until the day after the other nurse leaves, so no crossover to tell important stuff. Still, better than nothing :)
Night all xx

But I would also love a house when I'm older that is full of awesome stuff. Me with my stupid love of technology and musical instruments.
It makes me feel a bit bad really.

Re mortgages: I'm basically with what beckx said. I tend to uproot myself and go travelling every few years, so having a mortgage seems like added hassle.
@Fireflier:
"We should all live in tents and migrate with the seasons. The Alps in winter and the Med in summer would do nicely."
Personally, I'd prefer the Alps in the summer and the Med in the winter, but that's just me.
EDIT: 'night Mrs. L and beckx

..."don't worry so much" plan for life. I'm in the happy position to get this done just now, but I'm acutely aware that this might not be the case in the future. So I'll take the sort term pain now, deny myself other stuff that I might well do/get/experience otherwise, and generally [iss myself off so I don't have to worry about it in the future.
I've always been the sensible one, so I'd love to get in the position where - well, I don't feel like I hae to worry so much.

Is my bass, my lizard, my tortoise and my knives.
Really though, those are all replaceable.
But I'd not like to live in a tent. That'd suck.
Shipping container house FTW.
