Medical emergency, they put they call out to ask if there was a doctor on board.
There wasn't, so we had a rapid decent to Madrid so they could cart some bloke off in an ambulance.

Added a good couple of hours on to the journey.

It was quite good if I'm being honest.
As we had a cab booked for 5 this morning and I was sure I'd oversleep, I made a tactical decision to stay up all night drinking.

The two hours on the tarmac in Madrid gave me a good opportunity for more sleep and to sober up.

IIRC you're entitled to compensation if a delay is over 5 hours.
Unless it's cancelled, then your rights regarding delays go bye bye, and a whole different set of rights apply. Which most airlines happily ignore.

Had a three day stopover in Bratislava once thanks to a cancellation.
Still pursuing a payout, the regulators are on our side, but it has be dealt with in the jurisdiction of the country you were flying from. Which means we're getting fucking nowhere.
