How are we all this morning- still bolloxed from the night before?
(, Sun 19 Oct 2008, 9:21, 373 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
Love the sign, Piston.
I am still in bed. The London Bash last night was an absolute blinder. Met some great 'new' people, drank and smoked too much and laughed so hard I think I've injured myself. These bashes will kill me, but what a way to go.

How are you doing this morning?
(, Sun 19 Oct 2008, 9:38, Reply)
I'm fine
Although I seem to be getting regular headaches due to what I can only assume to be intra-sinal pressure, due to having a cold. It's not very nice. Alcohol doesn't work as a remedy, unfortunately. Still, glad you guys had a good time. There's always mine and Boss Keloid's bash this Friday to go to...
(, Sun 19 Oct 2008, 9:43, Reply)
Bloody colds.
They're so common that we feel we shouldn't complain, but they make us feel like crap sometimes.

Have you met BK before? I finally got to meet him last night and he's lovely. Be prepared to drink!

Despite my booze consumption, which was riding on the back of tea at the Dorchester (more food than should be eaten in a week), I'm actually feeling quite chipper. I think I might get up and achieve something!
(, Sun 19 Oct 2008, 9:50, Reply)
Death by b3ta bash
What a way to go :-)

Enjoyed the bash last night. Conversation topics were wide and varied, but we kept talking about how I managed to find a cheap flat so easily. Will post pics sometime.

In other news, I've been told my hotel doesn't have a room for me next week so I'm being moved to another nearby hotel.
(, Sun 19 Oct 2008, 10:07, Reply)
Good morning folks!
Great bash last night, really enjoyed myself.

Checked my gazzes this morning to discover two from a new b3tan - 11 days they've been a member and posted nothing so far. The reason for gazzing me? To tell me how crap I am.

Sadly this made me laugh which I don't think was their intention.

Ah...the internet...where tossers can be brave!

Unlike last night were alcohol made us all brave! Woohoo!
(, Sun 19 Oct 2008, 10:11, Reply)
Death by b3ta bash?
Well, that's one way out. Death by snu-snu, now that would indeed be good.

/Edit

Gazzes from a newbie saying you're shite? Cheeky bastard.
(, Sun 19 Oct 2008, 10:12, Reply)
It's because I have
the temerity to be a writer in the real world....and yet in this person's opinion everything I've ever posted on b3ta is shit.
(, Sun 19 Oct 2008, 10:14, Reply)
Ahh
The cheekiness of some people eh? Do post these gazzes, we could do with a laugh. And possibly all of us flaming said newbie via the medium of gaz.

@chickenlady
WTF? Did they have a reason?
(, Sun 19 Oct 2008, 10:15, Reply)
No reason mentioned
Except that what I write is shit, apparently...in their opinion.

Everyone's a critic.

:)

I did of course congratulate them on their excellent posts - 0 so far.

@ Piston Broke
What? Post their screen name you say?
(, Sun 19 Oct 2008, 10:19, Reply)
Goodmorning.
I was awake at 5am

Up at 6am

In the gym at 7am

And yes, I can contest to the fact that BK is a lovely chap.

Edit - and Chickenlady, jealousy is a nasty emotion. Just ignore them.
Today will be spent chauffeuring my nephew around for his birthday cinema visit and back to nana's for cake.
(, Sun 19 Oct 2008, 10:19, Reply)
Blimey BGB!
That's keen!

I'm very impressed. If it were me I'd now be eating cake just to offset the exercise.

/Edit

I'm not bothered - but I do find it surprising that someone will go to the bother of gazzing me twice to be nasty.
(, Sun 19 Oct 2008, 10:21, Reply)
@Chickenlady
I wasn't particularly happy about waking up at 5am but I couldn't get back to sleep.

I think masochism is a family trait.

Edit - I'm hoping all this exercise will make my hair grow faster. Hey! could happen.

Just finished watching the Formula 1 (Nice one, Lewis!) and now watching Ricky Gervais doing stand up.

Off to the gym (when I can be bothered) and lose some weight.

How is everyone?

Nice someone took the time. The first gaz asks me quite innocently if I'm really a writer...If really being a writer means getting paid to churn out words, then yes, I am.
(, Sun 19 Oct 2008, 10:44, Reply)
Chickenlady!
Meeting you and PJM last night was an absolute bloody pleasure! (There - an unsolicited opinion that might be better received!).

I am now in a state of dressedness and doing household chores. I really can't see me bothering with much else today.

@ Clendrix
You too! And everyone else that I hadn't met before.

It was lovely to see Herr Doktor, Ancrenne, Kaol & Spakka again.

Going to bashes never really feel like you're off to meet strangers from the internet.

Strange people maybe...but never strangers.
(, Sun 19 Oct 2008, 10:55, Reply)
Dok!
God, he's mental. (Edit - but lovely.)

Everyone else staggered off to a second bar last night, but I accompanied Wookiee home because I think his 'lung disease' had finally got to him. He received a text from Dok at one point, but Dok had neglected to actually write anything.

How funny - Dok too drunk to write and Wookiee too drunk to have read it anyway.

I'm sure they all feel great today :)

Well really!
It really never ceases to amaze me how many people out there need cunting in the fuck.

I hope Scarpe got home alright.

He staggered off into the night to catch his train home - fortunately his stop was the end of the line...maybe he's still asleep on the train even now.
(, Sun 19 Oct 2008, 11:05, Reply)
Oh yes! Scarpe!
He was so utterly mashed. I'd like to see some of his pics - he forced Wookiee and me to pose for one, but I feel quite sure it was more likely to have been of the flowers to the right of us from the way he was waving his camera around.

Someone unknown sending a snippy remark like that is more a reflection on them.

If it was an established member or even if it was constructive criticism then I'd take more notice...but as it was I'm more surprised that someone bothered to gaz me twice!

@BGB - yes, more bashes with you!

Morning everyone, glad that everyone is accounted for. Was an excellent bash last night, was so good to catch up with some familiar faces and the new ones too. It was great meeting you all, I've never met a b3tan in person that I didn't like.

We rolled up home at 11:30, yours truly disgustingly drunk and bearing takeaways instead of the cooked meal I promised chickenlady weeks ago. We're about to shoot off climbing this morning and I'm no doubt going to regret that last wheat beer (brewed in Yorkshire?) while I'm twenty feet up a wall.

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday.

Morning all!
I got back to mine the latter side of 2:30, damn my train deciding to make extra stops and thinking they were running early!

Didn't get to sleep on the train as some scrote was sitting the other side of the carriage sniffing so hard it was like he was snorting water, and doing it every 30 seconds for a good 20 minutes!

Anyway enough ranting.

Chickenlady, PJM, The Stig, Rubberduck, Herr Dok, Scarpe, BK, Ancrenne, Kaol, Brixton and all the rest I've met before, I thank you for the night last night. Was well worth the trip (if just for the hugs (and man-kisses from Kaol))

Afternoon everyone
I've just landed back in Warwickshire after last night's epic bash.

I went to the bash with high expectations, but it appears that my expectations weren't high enough. What a fantastic bunch of people you all are - it was great meeting Kaol again, but I've made a mental note not to go anywhere near him with any visible piercings after what happened to BK.

So many great people I'd not met before though. My only regret is that I didn't get to chat much to some people, but I intend to make up for that next time!

Woke up this morning at 7.30 with my mouth feeling like I'd been sucking a decomposed badger's cock, then I rolled over and saw the unfortunate truth. There was a half-eaten McD's quarter pounder next to me, that as usual I can't remember buying. WHY do I do that when I'm drunk? Every fucking time...

I just switched the F1 on and spent the next 2 hours reanimating myself enough to drag my sorry carcass over to Paddington, and that's about as exciting as today's going to get for me I think.
(, Sun 19 Oct 2008, 14:03, Reply)
Pics
Yeah, the pics are great, I will put them on flickr eventually. Unless anyone has any objections (If you don't want your picture up, let me know)

Unlikely that I will be managing that today though, cos frankly, I feel as rough as a dogs arse and may well just go back to bed.

The hotel's OK-ish - nothing special. The new one has a toilet and shower in my room, unlike the old one. My company gave me a relocation fee which is being used to pay for the hotel. I've found a flat a lot quicker than I'd hoped for, but I've still got to get thru the vetting process (references etc.) before it becomes final. However, the Wifi is rubbish here and my signal keeps disconnecting. Uploading pics may take some time.

@brix
The bash continued until the pub shut, but a few of us headed off to another place. I got the night bus all the way back to where I was staying and didn't get to bed until 3-ish.

Nope

Batman
you ate something you found down the back of the sofa? Bleurgh.

PoD - what's freecycle (ignorance denoting non-usage)
(, Sun 19 Oct 2008, 16:41, Reply)
I've used it
A handy little list if you ever find anything of use. Freecycle is basically a swapit site handled via email. I find gumtree and craigslist to be viable alternatives mind you.
(, Sun 19 Oct 2008, 16:42, Reply)
Well
It's a big website organisation thing* where people post either things they are giving away or things they are looking for. It's all free. The person giving stuff away can then choose who to give it to out of who responds.

And I think I've just found myself a snare drum and small tom on it.

No PoD
It's all the teachers who couldn't keep their draws on over the summer!

They are on Wednesday (a job I want) and Thursday (a job I don't really want but will take if offered).

The nice thing is that I will hear if I've got it or not that night.

What a fucking blinding weekend!

Blathering down a keyboard now cos I got royally pissed on the way home on the train.

Having looked down the thread, thanks muchly to clenders and BGB for the lovely words. I love you both too! And Lusty apologises for the hilarious excessive drunkenness!

Glad you both had fun. Sounds like a fun trip home too BK.

Any pics of the bash likely to apparate any time soon?
(, Sun 19 Oct 2008, 20:06, Reply)
Late acknowledgement of awsomeness
The bash was indeed legendary, bits of it keep coming back in bursts of hazy memory. I've barely climbed today thanks to wonky ribs (Kaol?) and a feeling of floatiness not conducive to dangling from rope 15 metres up.

I have to make one special tribute though.

Wanderlust's wonderful cakes. They rocked.

Thank you Wanderlust.

Hey PoD

@ducky

Pleasure to meet you!
Yeah, I managed to get the ball back on it this morning. Lusty was so hungover this morning! I was fine. Guess that was us officially coming out as a couple!

*edit*
And lovely to meet you and Chickenlady, PJM, you charming, erudite people!
(, Sun 19 Oct 2008, 20:15, Reply)
WHAT!!!
I missed out on Lusty's cakes. I didn't even know there were any.

I know what you mean about the hazy bursts of memory though, although curiously mine is from this morning. I've just been chewing my knuckles thinking about it. I was having a shower this morning in my hotel room, and didn't hear the knock on the door... One of the chambermaids had come to clean my room and walked into the bathroom while I was in the shower dressed in my birthday suit. With a flurry of embarassed apologies she disappeared.

Poor girl. She's probably been traumatised for life by my whale features, but there's one thing that I can't get straight in my head - okay, so I didn't hear the knock on the door, but SURELY it's bleeding obvious if someone's having a shower. It's not exactly the quietest of things, yet she STILL came in...

Edit: BK - congrats to you and Lusty. You make a great couple. I'm going to have to meet you both again if only to sample Lusty's cakes!

gave her daughter a Hitler tache when she was having a teenage strop. They were having a loud argument and she just leapt on her, pinned her down and drew it on with permanent pen.

Sure did fuzzy
go ninja, go!

Somebody suggested spagetti hoops but then you can only give them glasses. ANd like I said before I feel guilty about eating a fellow specky. Regular spaghetti also works so you can give them hair. Or the spaghetti with sausages so you can give them bodies and hair.

I may have too much time on my hands.

(, Mon 20 Oct 2008, 0:59, Reply)
Now why don't they
make tins containing straight spaghetti, hoops AND letters, all at once. Then your faces would have everything they need.

If sausages are involved I feel it would throw an element of mutation in, because to add a sausage as any kind of appendage to a face would look like giganticism.
(, Mon 20 Oct 2008, 1:00, Reply)
hahahaha
I just pissed myself at that!

the ones in the tins are actually small sausages so it's a decent proportion. Regular sausages makes the faces looks like weird.
