Mornin'
Last night, I was told my office is haunted by a toilet-flushing ghost.
(, Sat 22 Nov 2008, 11:09, Reply)
Morning folksies
I'm in rather a good mood today. I've got a nice little list of things I want to get done today and feel as though I'm finally converging on some ideas about what I'd like to do long term (occupation wise) as well as other things I'd like to achieve during my lifetime (learn French, learn a musical instrument etc) although in typical fashion my mind has been wildly changing on the subject for quite some time but I've found some recurring themes so can now focus on getting my mind to stick to them! That'll be easier said than done but it feels like a step forward for me so I'm all of the happy.

I'm also going to meet another eligible batchelorette tonight courtesy of match.com and there is the bash next weekend!

Finally, if you've not watched the horizon programme "How mad are you?" then I strongly suggest watching it - it's very good www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/search/?q=how%20mad%20are%20you

Let's hope your todo list gets done and leads to fruition.

That Horizon program sounds intriguing. Will watch it.

Hope the date goes well.

Give Kaol a hug from me
Badgerkins! And give yourself one too :)

PoD, enjoy it while it lasts!

Mista, have you heard it?

Cap'n, well done on your intention to learn new things, and good luck! The program sounds interesting, I will give that a watch.

Right, I need to have a shower and then I intend to spend the daylight hours doing fuzzy stuff :)
(, Sat 22 Nov 2008, 11:20, Reply)
Thanks guys
It's a very long term list but hopefully it'll help me give some direction to my life. Just need to make sure I try to take it one step at a time and not get too distressed that it's not all been done in a week!

I might post it here sometime as making my list public will probably help me to stick to it and not skit about like the bipolar twit that I am.

I must add getting rid of the chip on my shoulder to the list. Was never bothered by the idea of bipolar when I'd self diagnosed but now I've had a diagnosis it seems to be pre-occupying my thoughts a bit. *sigh*

Time to wash my hair then go get it cut!

Laters folks.

:edit: Fuzzy is "fuzzy stuff" some sort of euphemism?

This is the first weekend in ages that's completely free,
the weather outside is bright and sunny, but my bike is being repaired. ARGH! May still go out for a walk, and might join a friend in his walking-group tomorrow.

@fuzzy:
Only the receptionist heard it. She told one person who told everyone else.

@V:
It's best to take it one step at a time. You risk being overwhelmed otherwise.

The first time ever that I log on to B3ta on a weekend and I am the only one here, aren't I?

It wouldn't even be fair to make a 'thread killer' joke about the post above would it?(which I have just realised I have forgotten who made it, sorry)

It looks likes I'm really sad, since I'm replying quickly to lots of people today, but I just happen to be checking at the right times. That, and avoiding the work I'm trying to get done.

(, Sat 22 Nov 2008, 15:58, Reply)
Best way to learn French..
..spend as much time as possible with native speakers and don't let them use English. If you live near a university you can probably get inside the language centre and find yourself lots of adverts from French students who want an hour's English conversation in exchange for an hour in French. Ideally, they then become friends and invite you over to France where their friends and family look down on using the English language in their country and you are forced to learn. The French are generally crap at English anyway (and vice versa, of course).

To get yourself off the ground, learn the basics one by one. First, get a good idea of how words should be pronounced, even if you don't know the meanings. This is so important - it gives words you are trying to understand a solid identity in your mind; and laying the ground for good pronunciation means you'll be understood in the future even if your grammar's weak - I've met university graduates in French who struggle in conversation because they can't pronounce their sentences right.

My fuzzy stuff isn't going well
Or rather, it isn't going at all...

Cap'n, it's a euphamism for making fuzzy things out of crochet, like this:

Except I can't get myself organised with it today. Have just made lots of mess instead :(
(, Sat 22 Nov 2008, 16:07, Reply)
thats random fuzzy
are you a fashion student or a secret clothes maker?!:)
(, Sat 22 Nov 2008, 16:10, Reply)
Not terribly random really...
it's why I'm warmfuzzyfeeling :)

I make fuzzy stuff! Have done for a loong time, but had a break from it due to circumstances lately hence my disorganisation. Sadly it's not enough to earn a living from but I like doing it and if I get my shit together for the craft fair I'm doing on monday it might just get me through Christmas...

Hey fuzzy
How's pharming going? Any fun stories this week?
(, Sat 22 Nov 2008, 16:17, Reply)
Fuzzy
That looks all of the awesomes!

So far today I've managed to get my haircut, buy a diary, buy some CD pens and have a nice chat with my mum. I'm now going to tidy my room, have a bath and try to organise my lists.

@spakka I'm trying to take one step at a time but at the moment I'm trying to take hundreds of steps simultaneously because of all the things floating around in my head. I'm hoping to bring some structure and routine into my life by organising my ideas on paper in such a way that I can focus on actually doing one or two at a time and try to forget about the others.

Hopefully it'll work.

If all else fails I'll just get drunk tonight!
(, Sat 22 Nov 2008, 16:19, Reply)
got you!
Well if you make fuzzy leg warmers i'll have a pair for sure! I hope the fair goes well:)
(, Sat 22 Nov 2008, 16:19, Reply)
Captain lists
are the best thing. providing you tick the things off- you get to feel good about them then:)
(, Sat 22 Nov 2008, 16:22, Reply)
The main problem is
That most the stuff I need to get out of my head and put down somewhere else isn't easy to tick off stuff. I think I'm going to have lots of lists perhaps with a sort of tree structure to them...

:edit: Dentist appointment, hospital appointment and b3ta bashes (2009) are now in my diary.
(, Sat 22 Nov 2008, 16:31, Reply)
I actually DO make fuzzy legwarmers!
And I have several pairs I am taking to the craft fair. If you want me to put a pair to one side let me know! They are sort of lace-up ones so you can wear them over boots if you want, and they come with matching hats, and gloves too when I can be arsed.

They're not cheap tho, coz I use pricey yarns and they take me ages to make... But since only a handful of people have them they are exclusive and you can feel all unique and smug. I had to be quite brave the first time I wore mine in public, but I had loads of people coming up and asking where I got them :)

EDIT: soz, got carried away there. PoD, I always have funny stories about pharming, but will have to save them for later, am busy cutting out soles for bootees!
(, Sat 22 Nov 2008, 16:33, Reply)
ight all
Im off to the pub for a wee drink or two, followed by a few games of cards, a curry and a dvd, all with added extra beer

Have a good evening all, will have a nose on here tomorrow I reckon.

Oh and Fuzzy, in answer to your question a few days ago I reckon we could just start with one pot of jam and see how far it goes.

well fuzzy
they sound amazing, how much are they posted to me?
(, Sat 22 Nov 2008, 16:37, Reply)
captain
i have the same problem, i find it really hard to sort the thouhgts in my head out, i find the best way to distract myself from them is to do something unrelated and then they generally sort themselves out in time and I know were i'm heading...
(, Sat 22 Nov 2008, 16:42, Reply)
fuzzyjam, haha!
Soz, just noticed that. Spose fuzzy legwarmers are almost popsocks...

Cap'n, long term goals are good to have, and I know how hard it can be to stick to them. My attention span is terrible, unless I find myself spending hour after hour obsessing over some little detail which really isn't important... And if I don't see results from something instantly I get impatient.
But take the fuzzy stuff for example... I've done it for years, and it was never a goal, I just found myself one day having developed my own style over time and enjoying the sense of satisfaction I get from being creative. I never planned it, it just happened. And now I'm good enough at it to sell things :)

The thing is Dok (sorry)
that we have utterly inadequate heating.
Therefore you tend to get used to it.

At night there are two of us, a winter duvet and a thick bedspread. Can't see the point in spending money on heating when you can just be under all that.

Last winter we stayed overnight with some friends on a modern house with heating, insulation and the type. I felt I was going to suffocate

I live in the same kind of house the bedroom is the only room without heating, and the boiler isn't working properly at the moment.

I say that I'm cold, but I'm sitting in a t-shirt, so I can't be that cold.

You do get used to it, I don't like it but I can stand it. It's the drafts that get me.

Oh the heating
doesn't go on here until it's too cold to sit in the front room with a jumper on.

I'm still considering get out the front room duvet.
