It's evening time, it got dark ridiculously early, and the day thread was making my internet slow.
How are we all this fine evening?

( , Mon 24 Nov 2008, 17:42, 204 replies, latest was 16 years ago)

I've got bits of an Acorn Electron all over my living room floor.

Are you well dear ancrenne?
( , Mon 24 Nov 2008, 17:53, Reply)

Ancrenne.
I've just scored an Electron from Freecycle. The first thing Mr Bin does with things like this is take them apart, wash them, and then put them back together again.
I've got a friend coming over for dinner in a bit so I'd better start cooking really.
( , Mon 24 Nov 2008, 17:59, Reply)

You tried reinstalling the keyboard drivers on the laptop?
I'm not bad, I seem to have spent a lot of today travelling to and from uni, and have lots of work to do tonight. Pizza time before that though. What an evening it's going to be. I'll probably be on here a lot...
edits - You've succeeded at freecycle? My getting drums off there still isn't going well.
( , Mon 24 Nov 2008, 18:01, Reply)

I've got from freecycle.
I've given stuff away before, but only to people who can spell and punctuate.
( , Mon 24 Nov 2008, 18:05, Reply)

I'll be popping in on and off I would imagine. Mostly just working on my design project, so setting goals, coming up with a design specification. Fun stuff really. I look forward to getting on to the actual design stage.
Anyone got fun plans for tonight?
( , Mon 24 Nov 2008, 18:05, Reply)

Is this a PC or Mac you are having problems with?
I assume you have done a full power down?
*edit* When you plug in the external keyboard, does the built in one deactivate?
If not, my guess would be something stuck under the key.
( , Mon 24 Nov 2008, 18:07, Reply)

take out the battery, count to ten, power back up.
Here at bin towers the Acorn has been re assembled and is about to be fired up!
( , Mon 24 Nov 2008, 18:13, Reply)

I can't remember how to re-install the drivers, but if you drop someone like Ethel or Sam-I-Am a message they would probably be-able to help, or be-able to suggest what else might be wrong.

Unfortunately I don't have much choice in how cold I get. My Dad needs my help and seeing as he's running me around to and from work at the moment it'd be incredibly rude of me to say no!
Still, I'm feeling much less grumpy than earlier and my outlook on life is less bleak too so that's good!
Time to go get some noms then make this delivery. Laters folks.

but having just popped over to Eddie's website it seems his gigs are focussd solely on London village.
I hate it when people do that. I'm more than a little pissed off that Depeche Mode are only playing 1 UK gig next year at the O bloody 2; the furthest north they've ventured since 1994 is bloody Sheffield. To which I went and it was awesome, but that's not the point.
To performers that do this: You've got fans all over the UK you know; we pay your fucking wages through buying every bloody release you've ever made. At least acknowledge the fact by venturing north of the Watford gap every now and again.

..probably a good thing to let your stuff gestate before being torn apart by the internet hordes.
For some reason I imagine you as being a bit Cramps-y, but heavier, like Gene crossed with Killswitch Engage, or something..

I'm going to the O2 tomorrow
Edit: Oh my god, another b3tan knows who Gene are/were? Marry me Lost?

..oh god.. it depicts a few people in this town.. that film is a bit too close to the bone for my enjoyment. I'm currently in enforced exile from a load of people I used to see down the pub who turned out to be BNP fools.

Loved it. I read loads of reviews slating it, but I think it's great. But then, I like all his dvds.
Hmm, I feel iplayer calling me. This may not go well. This has resulted in me losing large amounts of time before.

I have an original vinyl copy of the first album, complete with poster and 12"-square booklet. That album is genius. Might put it on now as soon as the radio DJ plays something crap.

Are they on the list?
The BNP list, I mean.
As for what my band sounds like... I find it impossible to say! Have to wait 'til I've got some recordings, I guess.
EDIT: iPlayer! I'm just watching "Survivors". Not bad so far. Not enough zombies though.

I STILL want to marry Martin Rossiter when I grow up...pledge I made when I was 15 and saw them for the first time :) But I'd settle for their guitarist.
Edit: The only stuff I have of theirs in actual holdable format is some vinyls that were given away at gigs back in the 90s, everything else has been purchased on CD and then transferred to MP3. Listening to Olympian now

no one I know has ever heard of Gene. They were sublime.
( , Mon 24 Nov 2008, 23:37, Reply)

the vocals are just amazing, but it was the guitar that made me fall for them.
In fact, I listened to 'Long Sleeves' on my ipod only this morning!

They were no Mega City Four is all I can say

I wonder what they'd sound like now.

I've been debating all evening whether or not to join tonight's HSH thread, but just wanted to say what a complete CUNT this Woodside Industries fellow is.
Just wanted to say that.
How is everyone?

..they're not on the list - think they're too apathetic to bother with real politics. They just like to pretend they know how to put the world to rights over a few ales by banging on about the fecking BNP, because that means you're properly working class and a true patriot or something. Twats.
@Gene-lovers. I'm remembering what a good band they are now. The album is definitely going on, although the DJ is doing his best to thwart my intentions by playing Lou Reed.

EDIT: Gah! Beaten! Looks like my title of "Lord Spakka of Links" is under threat!

Not a song I've heard before, but I liked it. I agree Lou is patchy. Side two of Transformer FTW though.. that's the album that makes people think I'm gay and makes me not mind.
Now it's something good too on t'radio. No idea what. I'm crap at song titles, like with names - remember faces and sounds better,

I just pretend to ignore them.
But this is a different thread, so we can all let off steam in here.

Shame that some people feel they have to validate themselves like that.

..I've been hopelessly in love with music ever since hitting puberty, before it became cool to list your favorite shit on myspace as an adolescent ritual. I was the only 13 yeay old in my school into the Velvet underground.. and five years later the only 18 year old. Nothing beats music around here.
That Woodside guy.. I remember when he was just "Woodside Industries" and gave me a hard time off the back of my first /talk post. Also I think he's been in the newsletter a few times. I doubt he's actually living with his parents and getting them to make him cocoa as per pooflake's put-down. I reackon he's actually quite comfortable in a cushy job in a big city and nice apartment with a passing resemblance to Nathan Barley's lifestyle where he doesn't have to think, as his post was totally thoughtless suggesting a facile power complex born of getting where he is by being a cunt and realising he can get away with it.

..for no real reason.. I've just got a bad feeling. I feel creepy being here all evening. Perhaps I need to pour a final one and retire to bed.
( , Tue 25 Nov 2008, 0:30, Reply)

I'm still around.
For a moment, I was worried that I'd killed the thread.
( , Tue 25 Nov 2008, 0:33, Reply)

Well I'm done watchin' that.
Time to go to bed for me, I've either gotta go to Milton Keynes or London for work tomorrow.
So... Don't wanna be too tired.
Night.
( , Tue 25 Nov 2008, 0:36, Reply)

and with that I shall retire. I've seen sense and gone for toast instead of another drink. The shipping forecast is on soon so I'm off to bed with headphones.
K.. good luck with Milton Keynes, especially if you're driving..
Spakkaman.. you enjoy your evening..
Sweet dreams folksies..
