is that these people don't think about how much more it pollutes the environment to wash the cloth than it does to make toilet paper. Do they think that the soap and dirty water just vanish and that the energy to heat the water and run the machine and pump the water around just comes from nowhere? Do they think that toilet paper stays around forever instead of rotting?
Fuckwits.
On the other hand, it's kind of fun to think of these twits basically keeping themselves in diapers for years.

but if they were really hard-core, wouldn't they just use a fucking leaf or something?

what if you don't have a tumble dryer?
Nasty crinkly solid cloth that resembles a facecloth with little bits of shit on it.
Nice.

I haven't run the numbers but I'd be very very surprised if it worked out less environmentally friendly to use these, it takes a lot of energy to make paper and standard bog roll doesn't get recycled, just flushed away.
The greenest solution is clearly some sort of water spraying hose/bidet as used in quite a few other countries. Or using a composting toilet and wiping your arse with newspaper (flushing newspaper is a no no), as quite a few hippies I know do.

Highly recommended - really soft and thick.
There's even a version with aloe vera in makes your poop smell nicer.
Fuck global warming :)

(and indeed a lot of sorts of paper, like teabags, Rizlas, etc etc) is the amount of bleach used to get it white. For no other reason than we associate white with cleanliness, it serves no functional purpose. Bleach is a pretty nasty chemical.
There's quite a few brands of 100% recycled, unbleached (well, I think not rebleached is the technical term) toilet paper available, it's not much more expensive and it's exactly the same on your arse as the normal stuff.
Apparently Britain uses more bog roll per head than any other country in the world.

It's saying America uses more toilet paper per capita than Europe; presumably all those Frenchies with bidets are dragging the average down.
Britain apparently uses more than any other country though. Sources here and here - they differ on numbers (unless the average life expectancy of a Briton is 36, which seems unlikely) but agree that Britain uses the most.

Bleach is a not bad for the environment - yes its a harsh chemical in some respects but very rapidly breaks down and doesnt damage the environment.
I learnt this when having sheep turned into jumpers.
