le Weekend
What's everyone up to?

I'm going out with the hound tomorrow for a long walk and then doing some research on Sunday.
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 11:46, 41 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
an exciting action packed weekend ahead
playing a gig tonight, which should be grand. working on my garden tomorrow before heading up for a late afternoon/early evening surf at Woolacombe, working in the garden again on sunday, followed by an early evening gig.

"Havoc"'s gone all mainstream
and is having a party tonight on the end of Worthing pier in the chav dive formally known as Rutherfords, instead of in the woods.

And then my friend's SKA band "Hakuna Pesa" down the Vinter's Parrot tomorrow.

/shameless pimping

So I'm actually doing stuff this weekend! Yay!

Drinking
This evening - and I reckon it'll be a night for dry white wine before moving onto gin and tonics.

Tomorrow, cemetery AM to tidy up/garden around one particular headstone, PM barbecue and FA Cup final.

Sunday, housework

It's all go in my world.

Playing 'King of the Kids'
by going out for Agnostics 21st (I'm 31!) and getting drunk, marching columbian style and having a jolly good time.
Saturday: Feel sorry for myself
Sunday: Weed the garden, cut back the trees, play with minime and visit the in-laws
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 11:53, Reply)
Today - painting the hall
Tomorrow - going to a wedding and by definition getting utterly trousered in the process.

Sunday - something; not sure yet.

I am dreading the signal to the end of my week off.
Hopefully won't get pissed. Stay in and save my precious pennies for the big move, although this is fairly unlikely.

Tonight: drinking and headbanging
Tomorrow: barbecue north of Watford for Cup Final and then London Bash
Sunday: guitar practice
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 11:59, Reply)
how is the guitaring going?

(, Fri 29 May 2009, 12:00, Reply)
Still rubbish :)
But I'm having a music night (not a euphemism) at Al's house soon, so I need to be able to play at least one song!
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 12:02, Reply)
it takes a while
I'd estimate that I was shit for 8 years, rubbish for another 2, mediocre for 2 and have recently progressed to "I can hold my own"
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 12:03, Reply)
Yeah does take a while
Try getting Powertab editor or guitar pro... they helped me heaps when I was starting out
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 12:04, Reply)
never really bothered with those
I get on ok with the text file tab stuff
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 12:06, Reply)
Yeah I dont mind either
Helps sometimes if you can hear when to play the different bits I found
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 12:11, Reply)
Thanks :)
I might take a look at that.
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 12:13, Reply)

(, Fri 29 May 2009, 12:18, Reply)

When I first started playing
all of 15 years ago, I got a few books from this series:

www.activemusician.com/store/series/ezgtr.asp

All the songs are in simple tab form, have chord grids and in general the books are highly recommended.

Crikey, north of Watford?
Can you bring us back some Haggis? Lovely stuff.
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 12:01, Reply)
I'm scared!
I shall be packing my Kendal mintcake and taking breathing apparatus.
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 12:02, Reply)
woo!
Tonight - Finish work, pick up crate, go home, start drinking. We'll retire to the pub later on, have a shandy or 5. Go bush jumping (fnarr) afterwards, and fall through my front door.

Tomorrow - Wake up early, go into town. Drop off cheque in bank, get quote for tattoo, buy ugliest golfing clothing possible, go home. Head to my Dad's, go watch shopping, get changed into golf gear, start drinking at 4. Pub golf shall follow.

Sunday - Fuck knows.
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 12:03, Reply)
Sounds like fun
What are you getting tattoo'd on you?

Have a good one, pub golf sounds like fun, but I'd be unconscious after two holes. LIGHTWEIGHT ^_^
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 12:26, Reply)
I'm keeping this a secret...
Simply because a lot of people disagree with what I'm getting, but I know it's what I want.

All will be revealed in good time.

POIDH
when the time is right, of course.

I might get my tattoo(s) this summer, but need to find a good place to get it done. Where are you getting yours? (I ask because you're local)
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 13:04, Reply)
I am?
I'm getting it done at Skin Creations in Macclesfield, whereabouts are you based?
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 13:19, Reply)
STAAAAACKPARRRT
Or to be more precise/bourgeois, the lovely lovely Heaton Moor.

Re-locating to London/Edinburgh in a few months though. Or wherever will have me through clearing!
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 13:31, Reply)
Oh good lord!
Ah well, if you ever get really really stupidly bored on a friday, you can usually find me and spikeypickle propping up the bar in Swan with Two Necks.

In fact, we're doing it tonight if you want to join us?
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 13:42, Reply)
Ha, I know, weird shit innit
Isn't/wasn't rachelswipe from around these neck(s) of the wood?

I will certainly take it into account - I'm a newish poster on b3ta, would love to meet some of this lot. Dunno about this evening, as I'm under house arrest pretty much at the moment (cunting bollocking exams etc) but yeah, sounds like fun.

Is anyone else local? *is NOT from League of Gentlemen*
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 13:48, Reply)
We've got...
Me & Spikeypickle in Macc
Kip in Cheadle
WallyEllySue in congleton (she never posts)

And yep, I think rswipe is from Stockport originally.

Sure you can't even just spare two hours to come laugh at two drunken b3tans?
Haha

Was going to Bristol...
But me mates working now so no real plans :-(

Open mic night on Sunday might be a go

Rugby!
Loads of Rugby on tomorrow, Lions' first game of the South Africa tour, followed by the super 14 final (I think) followed by England vs Babarians.

Plenty of beer in the mix and I'm a happy bunny.

Sunday will be most likely spent with a hangover...
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 12:07, Reply)
There are super 7's on also I believe.
I could care less about that though - it's all about the Lions tomorrow.

I expect to see the mighty Brian O'Driscoll cement his status as one of the greatest backs the world has ever seen if he can avoid getting pole-axed again.
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 12:18, Reply)
Yet more, and more, and more college work
I'll be so very happy on Tuesday evening when most of it is finally done! Then I can go and burn things.
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 12:09, Reply)
Tonight
I'm off to see Hitchcock (electropop/rock) play in town, followed by drinks.

Saturday I'll go for a bike ride, practice on the drums, and maybe inhabit a beer garden with friends if the weather's good.

Sunday I'll likely see my folks, do housework and play games!

Revisereviserevise
I'm screwed.
Need to learn half a book of Iliad, a chunk of dialogue, fuckloads of history, the workings of the Latin language, some Cicero, a whole satire, and asorted ofther fun stuff in about five days.
FUN!
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 12:22, Reply)
Tomorrow
A hen night: burlesque at Velupte.

Sunday: cycling training.
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 12:45, Reply)
It's Friday afternoon
How am I supposed to know what I'll be doing as far away as Saturday night?
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 13:23, Reply)
Everyone here is having much more fun than I will have:-(
I am spending tonight and tomorrow sampling indoor air quality in some homes in the lovely city of Rutland in VT (its a hole) to see if contaminated soil vapors are getting into the houses and causing health risks.

I don't understand why you can't show up at someone's house to set up the equipment with a case of beer in hand!
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 14:08, Reply)
I'm off to Landan Tahn
to be interviewed for a job as a pole dancing teacher. I have to perform a dance routine and now that it's drawing closer I'm getting more and more concerned that I'm going to kick the interviewer in the face or fall over and display my ladygarden.

But to recover from that I'm going to be tootling, yes tootling, around on a boat in Huntindgon on Sunday because my parents are nautical like that.

Bet the weather turns wank before then and there'll be a hurricane or something equally ridiculous.
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 15:01, Reply)
I thought the whole purpose of pole dancing was
to at least set the illusion that the audiance will see you lady bits? (Or is pole dancing different in the UK from what they do in the states?)
(, Fri 29 May 2009, 15:41, Reply)
If you can do that...
And style it out like its part of the routine, then the job is yours!
