One year ago I had just started a new job that I thought I'd love
Five years ago I was living with my ex and was miserable with him and in a shit job

Five years ago - being treated like shit by my ex-employer

I had dreams, man. Dreams. I was less cynical, thinner, and less beardy too. I was young, once. And then - BOOM. What the hell happened to my twenties (OK, so I'm still young, but what the hell)? But all in all, I am a lot, lot happier than I was even 4 years ago.
Unrelated note, and I realise that turning to the internet for fashion advice could be a mistake, but I need a nice shirt for a little shindig I am attending on Saturday. Where can I get a nice shirt from?

One year ago: Finally got a job that I can do
Five years ago: Leaving University, bright eyed and bushy tailed with dreams of being an actor
Ten years ago: Bumming around on a gap year, doing menial jobs and dreaming of being an actor.
Nothing much changes!

One year ago: starting A2s, not having too bad a time of it, but alone and miserable as far as things went.
Five years ago: Had ruined my closest friendship rather spectacularly, wasn't really doing much. Close friend developed kidney problems and spectacularly dropped out of school.
Ten years ago: Was the weird kid, and cut up animal organs in my spare time.

This is brilliant. Best hobby I've ever heard of.

One year ago - Not coping at all well with not being with my ex
Five years ago - Finishing my degree, utterly poor and desperately wondering WTF to do in life. Contemplating joining the Navy to work on a submarine.
Ten years ago - Lower Sixth form, bunking off school to play Ultima Online
( , Thu 25 Jun 2009, 10:37, Reply)

You'd be surprised how few working submarines the British Navy has.

One year ago I was sat in the same place I am now, but had an amazing girlfriend.
Five years ago I was preparing to move away from all of my friends, and a girlfriend.

But getting pet chickens changed me. 4 months ago I could barely get out of bed to go to work. I was seriously considering selling the house, quitting my job and disappearing. Then I got a couple of ex-battery hens and now I have no probs getting up early to let them out and feed them. People stop me in the street and ask about "the girls" (i.e. my chickens).
God that sounds tragic.

they were quite bald and mental when I got them, but after a couple of months of TLC the feathers grew back and they settled down. Still a bit mental, but then so am I.

Getting up early, although at first murder, is actually a fucking joy.

However, I do think too much about chickens now. Perhaps I should start that hamster ranch?
( , Thu 25 Jun 2009, 11:08, Reply)

And they're the most friendly, funny pets I've ever had!
I'd strongly recommend them!

10: I was about to start secondary school.

5 years ago: Just started Uni. Had dreams of graduating with a 2:1 and getting a 25k a year job from the off!

Five years ago: Just been diagnosed bipolar, that whole psychotic episode, enough drugs to take down an elephant, blah blah, working (when I was able) in a job I loved, which was unfortunately only a two year contract.

One year ago - Emailing pictures of my genitals to girlies, ONLINE, and telling them of my heroic achievements in the theatre of war. I then planned a trek to the south pole.
Five years ago: I was a top fast jet pilot, despite being a fat speccy cunt - I am so great the RAF entrusted me with a multi-million pound plane to go and shoot people up with.
Ten years ago - Was committing acts of ridiculous heroism in some war zone, somewhere. Decided that telling woment folk of my heroics would be a way to get several of them to marry me at the same time, despite my being a fat and speccy lying shitbag of a cuntsock.

One year ago: Living in London (Ealing) and being extremely tired all the time thanks to the god-awful traffic whilst commuting to Reading, starting to assist in teaching martial arts on the occasional evening and taking a break from the amateur dramaticals.
Five years ago: Constantly tired at a government job in the second worst managed operation I've ever seen. The worst was a year later, during shift work in another government job. I'd just started learning martial arts and was thinking about getting back into some amateur dramaticals.
Ten years ago: In the second year of my degree and busily transitioning from a straight A student to a failing one thanks to an inability to balance work and life (through lack of practice; life was not present in my pre-university world).

Ten years ago - living on a farm, pissed off, just started a fine art degree, coping (pretty much singlehandedly) with twin baby boys, farming, supply teaching, blah, blah.
