But I'd need to go in their summer, which is our winter, and that would bugger up my holiday schedules.

That said, I've been to Oz twice, in late southern hemisphere summer, so it's doable.

If you like Chinese / Thai food, there's a secret food court through a jewellery shop at the bottom of Queens Street.
It's super cheap and super fine.

Rotorua is well worth a visit for the stinky pools and rafting!
