Spakkit *nods*
I'm still a bit chesty, but I'm ok. Pub-shift tonight, so I shall get the customers to buy me some wine. Purely medicinal. How goes?

Evening Root
I've come down with another ear-infection today. This one is in the other ear. Have spent most of the day asleep.

Alright, Spack?
I am not sick (well, apart from in the head).

I think California is outside the lurgy-zone ... for now * laughs manically *

Glad to hear your cat's doing alright.

I'm going on holiday on Sunday.
Where are you off to?
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 19:08, Reply)
Evening Will
Not sure if my sickness counts as a mini-holiday or not, but I prefer my holidays without pain.

My local grocery store
is selling 12-pack cans of Bud at $12.99, an 18-pack at $16.99, yet they're selling a 20 pack of bottles at $11.99. I got the bottles.
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 19:07, Reply)
I am not sick,
but I have had a headache all day. Normally does this when it is going to rain the next day. You heard it here first folks.

Greetings RBF
I'd hate to imagine what your head must go through on an impending thunderstorm.
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 19:17, Reply)
could I please?
I've been working super hard today and am a bit knackered, and there is (are?) still 2.5 hours to go *sad face*

You can catch a glimpse of the Lurgy as it heads westwards to California if you want.
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 19:28, Reply)
Hahaha,

I'm just glad I don't have a third ear to infect. That's all.
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 19:35, Reply)
I'm glad too.
Are they getting any better?
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 19:46, Reply)
My right ear's recovered for some time
It's just lefty's turn to catch up.

my boss had an infection in one of his and it took a couple different steriods and a few months to get him to rights
I hope yours is better soon!

Have you been to the quacks?
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 20:01, Reply)
Still haven't
but the other ear's made a recovery.
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 20:02, Reply)
Think I've told you before
But that's how I started off and ended up being diagnosed with mild vertigo.
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 20:06, Reply)
Currently, I have no vertigo symptoms
but if it goes beyond what my other ear went through, a visit to the quack's is in order.

Roll call for the ailed and ill of health?
I have ridden out the worst of the cold and am now left with a rather foul barking cough, fags and a bucket containing a vile brew cleared some of the lung cheese but I'm rasping like Vader again.

Getting married on Saturday so I hope the fucker clears before then.
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 20:07, Reply)
Welcome to the flu club
But still you've got a week. Hope the wedding goes well.

My father, as we know, can be a colossal cunt at times.
He has been unusually cuntish in begrudging my mother petrol money to go and visit her dying mother, who lives a mere 45 minutes away, once a fucking week. Separation is being considered, except mother will never be strong enough to leave him.
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 20:07, Reply)
so you're going to kill him

(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 20:08, Reply)
He's not spoken to me for over a year anyway
but he has a black belt in karate so he could probably fuck me up before I got near him...
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 20:13, Reply)
Gah!
No wonder she appears so clingy at times. From what I remember, you're an only child, and you'll be all she's got left if they separate.

But perhaps she should just spend a long time at your gran's bedside and see how she copes without her husband.
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 20:10, Reply)
She's coping without him as it is; he genuinely does not seem to give a shit about her or her feelings,
much less that my granny is dying. I can't force her to leave but I've told her what I think is best for her :(
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 20:13, Reply)
Would she be able to support herself on her own if she leaves her husband?

(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 20:16, Reply)
Not sure, to be honest - she's not worked since she had me.
Never needed to; Father Maladicta could support us all on his wage and she has rather a lot of his money that she would need to give back. She'd likely need to get a job.
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 20:32, Reply)
Now, that could be a problem
If she were to leave, she'd have an uphill struggle. Having been dependent on your dad for so long would mean she may not be accustomed to living in the real world.

I'm sure there must be some sort of organisation that helps recently divorced wives who've escaped failed marriages back on their legs?
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 20:40, Reply)
She's more resilient than she gives herself credit for
but the thought of being without him gives her Teh Fear :(

I'll look into it - as I say I've told her what I think she should do, it's just a matter of persuading her short term pain for long-term happiness is a much better option than buying another house with a man she's not sure she still wants to live with...
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 20:47, Reply)
Hopefully if this organisation has a web-forum
she can get in touch with other women in similar situations. Perhaps escaping alongside other women in similar situations might just give her the nudge she needs.
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 21:00, Reply)
WTF?
Hugs to your mum xx
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 20:11, Reply)
Welcome to the twisted mind of Father Maladicta :(
Thank you sweetie, hugs are much, much appreciated xx

evening all
I am still lurgy-ed up, currently has migrated to my nose and filling my sinuses, having started the day as a sore throat. Woe is me!
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 20:37, Reply)
Oh herro!
You has the lurgy?
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 20:37, Reply)
yup
Felt a little rough Saturday, drank far too much and whatever it was seized its chance and brung me low.

Sore throat, high temp, cough, aches - not man-flu bad, just feel-like-crap bad.
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 20:44, Reply)
Dude, that sucks.
I have a splitting headache at the moment to go with my headfuck :(
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 20:48, Reply)
Evening TLiC
Sounds like yours is rising from below. May need to drill a hole in the top of your head to let it out if it does get that far.
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 20:42, Reply)
Sounds like a plan
Often felt when I've had sinus pain that a drill would be just what I need.
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 20:45, Reply)
If you did that and you filled up
you'd become a lurgy-volcano.
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 20:58, Reply)
Evening Fluffers!
how are we all?
i'm feeling a little ropey as i got utterly fucked on red wine and beer last night. still don't remember puking on the kitchen floor.

Evening b69
I suppose that for the purposes of this thread, a hangover counts too.
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 20:43, Reply)

i was feeling like a bit of an outsider for a while there...
i don't expect sympathy or anything, just need to feel included...

Still up for a Carlisle afternoon?

If so I'd be getting there 13.29, leaving 18.07.

Is that satisfactory?
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 21:04, Reply)
shorter than i had hoped...
but as the old scottish saying goes...
"you cannae pee with a better cock than the one you've got!"

i'm sure we'll make the most of it!!!
and with a bit of luck thatcher will die before then and we can have a proper celebrate...
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 21:11, Reply)
Best I can do I'm afraid
And as a lifelong Socialist I'd rather Blair died than Thatcher.

I learned all of my politics from Thatcher, in that whatever she said I instinctively disagreed with and learned to understand how to challenge both politically and intellectually.

It hurts me to say that she was probably the greatest Prime Minister we've ever had. Whilst what she did was abhorrent to most people, she believed in it and was absolutely incorruptible.
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 21:19, Reply)
you forgot the part about her being an evil old whore...
but let's not fall out over it.
*sniggers*
so if she dies you won't be celebrating...
(, Mon 21 Sep 2009, 21:39, Reply)
No, not really.
How many politicians - anywhere - can be said to possess and uphold integrity?

She did and she was steadfast to her misguided principles throughout her parliamentary career.

Less than a mile from where I'm sitting now Keir Hardie set out the cornerstones of what became the Labour Party. The party of the working man, the party of social improvement and compassion, the party of advancement.

The last Labour leader who showed even a vestigal appreciation of those cornerstones was Kinnock, and he ended up more engrossed in himself than the message.

My membership card - ripped into pieces with an abusive message - went back to Millbank after Kim Howells explained on March 3rd 1997 that new labour had nothing in common with Socialism.

So yes, having been sold down the river by my own party, I'll mourn someone who had the guts to stick to her beliefs.
