"Widely understood to be the second coming of 80s pop, crazy hair and fat synths are just two tiers on this ziggurat of pop greatness. Bursting onto the scene in 2008, La Roux have declared war on the boring guitar bands that have 'had their day' and are determined to take you back to the decade we all know and love."
the 80s was an awful decade, particularly the hair and the pop music. La Roux must be destroyed.

Edit: And actually, not wishing to threadjack, but something more sinister is afoot. Any London-based b3tan music enthusiasts please take note!

I think it's to do with them being insipid, self-righteous bog-trotters. Other bands have played there and have remained not shit following the experience, so your logic is flawed.
*lets tyres down*

They've played host to more than their fair share of truly shit bands, admittedly (e.g., U2 as Chompy so politely points out), but I never thought that place would struggle for business - particularly having seen it on the nights when The Hamsters played there. I can't help but think it's time to organise a mass gig attendance and simultaneously drink the place dry.

so I can't really comment. Exeter is woefully short of good venues, and therefore woefully short of good bands playing here.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:05, Reply)
that go round playing all this bluesy crap. I heard there was this one band where the guitarist keeps gurning mentally every time he plays a solo, which is most of the time as his beard keeps him stuck to the front of the stage like air velcro.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:07, Reply)
there are or were some really quite good local bands. Unfortunately they all seem to have disappeared leaving just mine. It's a sad time for the Exeter music scene

less than five minutes ago I was reading b3ta in my pants while at work. That's pretty fucking casual.

Lets make everyone think Chompy is the most narcissistic, vacuous and superficial cunt on the planet.

and her voice is too high.
There's a review.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:07, Reply)
but I suspect the album is shit. Besides, she's done one fucking album, when she produces two or three good calibre albums within a couple of years I will take her seriously, until then she's just another voice on the radio.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:08, Reply)
I don't listen to the radio anymore, its just full of crap. I tend to cheat with music now and just search through iTunes for bands I might like and then buy an odd song or two and go from there... at least that way I'm not too disappointed... I found Rock Kills Kid that way and they're alright!
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:11, Reply)
there's some good new music about.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:17, Reply)
as I don't listen to the radio, other than planet rock, I don't often get to hear about new stuff

called The Saturdays. I think they might really make it big.

but Kimberly reminds me of a friend of mine from Uni who I always thought was quite hot.

I would definitely say the one in the middle has by far the prettiest face though.

she looks a bit like posh spice sometimes though and that knocks her down a peg.

I hate to admit it, but when the spice girls were first around, posh was my favourite, looks wise. now she is just awful though

if we are doing it your way, I'd have the face and outfit from the one in the middle and the body from the one on the right

but it does look like the buttock on the one on the right has been altered somehow.

zane lowe is a bit annoying and excitable but plays some good stuff.
In terms of bands/songs, I like Florence and the Machine Dizzie Rascal, pencil full of lead by some bloke is good fun.

Not to say that I find the man so insufferable that I'd want to physically harm him, but if I were to find myself locked in a room with him and a cheese grater then I would not be held responsible for my actions or the grating of his face.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:26, Reply)
but whenever I've put it on he seems to talk at high speed over some really weird high energy music.
I haven't heard much in the way of Florence and the Machine, she seems to be quite widely liked. I heard some of Noah and the Whale's new album the other night. Pretty different to the last stuff. rather orchestral in places.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:27, Reply)
but apparently her live shows are flagging a bit now because she's been touring non stop for 9 months ish.
Noah and the Whale are pretty good.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:30, Reply)
but if I had heard the first album first I wouldn't have gone, because it is really quite dreary, which was not how they performed it.
can understand someone flagging after 9 months of touring.
