Sorry to harp on about music again but I just read this description of La Roux
"Widely understood to be the second coming of 80s pop, crazy hair and fat synths are just two tiers on this ziggurat of pop greatness. Bursting onto the scene in 2008, La Roux have declared war on the boring guitar bands that have 'had their day' and are determined to take you back to the decade we all know and love."

the 80s was an awful decade, particularly the hair and the pop music. La Roux must be destroyed.

I agree
*polishes pitchfork*

Edit: And actually, not wishing to threadjack, but something more sinister is afoot. Any London-based b3tan music enthusiasts please take note!

U2 played there
that means they're shit.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 13:58, Reply)
now you are getting the idea

(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:00, Reply)
U2 are not shit because they played there.
I think it's to do with them being insipid, self-righteous bog-trotters. Other bands have played there and have remained not shit following the experience, so your logic is flawed.

*lets tyres down*

Threadjack away chum

(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 13:59, Reply)
I just can't believe the place is facing closure
They've played host to more than their fair share of truly shit bands, admittedly (e.g., U2 as Chompy so politely points out), but I never thought that place would struggle for business - particularly having seen it on the nights when The Hamsters played there. I can't help but think it's time to organise a mass gig attendance and simultaneously drink the place dry.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:02, Reply)
the only places I have seen gigs in London are the O2 and Brixton Academy
so I can't really comment. Exeter is woefully short of good venues, and therefore woefully short of good bands playing here.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:05, Reply)
I've heard there are some fucking awful local bands
that go round playing all this bluesy crap. I heard there was this one band where the guitarist keeps gurning mentally every time he plays a solo, which is most of the time as his beard keeps him stuck to the front of the stage like air velcro.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:07, Reply)
too fucking right
there are or were some really quite good local bands. Unfortunately they all seem to have disappeared leaving just mine. It's a sad time for the Exeter music scene
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:08, Reply)
I'm not being funny
but it's in south london, it fucking deserves it.

She looks like a Scottish bantamweight that has turned to drag.

I intend to click I like this

There's no casual viewers on /offtopic.

(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:15, Reply)
I disagree
less than five minutes ago I was reading b3ta in my pants while at work. That's pretty fucking casual.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:16, Reply)
I will do the same
Lets make everyone think Chompy is the most narcissistic, vacuous and superficial cunt on the planet.

shouldn't be too hard

I don't like her stupid face
and her voice is too high.

There's a review.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:07, Reply)
I like the two singles
but I suspect the album is shit. Besides, she's done one fucking album, when she produces two or three good calibre albums within a couple of years I will take her seriously, until then she's just another voice on the radio.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:08, Reply)
You're right there!
I don't listen to the radio anymore, its just full of crap. I tend to cheat with music now and just search through iTunes for bands I might like and then buy an odd song or two and go from there... at least that way I'm not too disappointed... I found Rock Kills Kid that way and they're alright!
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:11, Reply)
I've restarted listening to the radio recently,
there's some good new music about.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:17, Reply)
what good stuff?
as I don't listen to the radio, other than planet rock, I don't often get to hear about new stuff
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:18, Reply)
Thers is this wonderful up and coming female vocal group
called The Saturdays. I think they might really make it big.

If girls aloud went to Aldi
I'd totally fuck Kimberly up the cheese aisle.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:22, Reply)
Is she the ginger?
I know this flies in the face of fashion but I fancy her.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:24, Reply)
I'd do her too
but Kimberly reminds me of a friend of mine from Uni who I always thought was quite hot.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:25, Reply)
Years ago I went out with a girl of similar complexion...
...and was rather put off with the contrast in colour between her pale flesh and her 'lady-bits'. The pallid skin and lack of hair made her look 'too red' down there.

I would say 1>3>5>2>4
from left to right.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:28, Reply)
is that order of preference?
or if not, what is your scoring based on
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:29, Reply)
That's the order of most attractive to least
It's based on me objectifying them until they're nothing more than sex dolls.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:32, Reply)
naturally
I would definitely say the one in the middle has by far the prettiest face though.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:33, Reply)
In that picture definatley,
she looks a bit like posh spice sometimes though and that knocks her down a peg.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:34, Reply)
ah, I haven't seen them on anything else
I hate to admit it, but when the spice girls were first around, posh was my favourite, looks wise. now she is just awful though

Agreed.
And it always sounded wrong to say you wanted to shag 'Baby'.

(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:29, Reply)
Actually, I want the face of the middle one instead.

(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:30, Reply)
good choice
I was about to slate you for choosing an ugly face

if we are doing it your way, I'd have the face and outfit from the one in the middle and the body from the one on the right

(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:29, Reply)
She is lovely

But I can't help thinking back to her time in juniors whcih puts me off my stroke so to speak, that is when I'm on the running machine in the gym watching MTV...running that is not wanking...again.

I quite like Hugh Stevens late night on radio one,
zane lowe is a bit annoying and excitable but plays some good stuff.
In terms of bands/songs, I like Florence and the Machine Dizzie Rascal, pencil full of lead by some bloke is good fun.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:22, Reply)
I endorse this endorsement of late night Radio 1

(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:24, Reply)
it's the best it's been now, since Peel died.

(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:35, Reply)
Zane Lowe
Not to say that I find the man so insufferable that I'd want to physically harm him, but if I were to find myself locked in a room with him and a cheese grater then I would not be held responsible for my actions or the grating of his face.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:26, Reply)
Would you sprinkle with grated cheese?

And then lick it off?
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:27, Reply)
In principle Zane Lowe's show should be good
but whenever I've put it on he seems to talk at high speed over some really weird high energy music.

I haven't heard much in the way of Florence and the Machine, she seems to be quite widely liked. I heard some of Noah and the Whale's new album the other night. Pretty different to the last stuff. rather orchestral in places.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:27, Reply)
I saw florence earlier in the year and she was amazing
but apparently her live shows are flagging a bit now because she's been touring non stop for 9 months ish.
Noah and the Whale are pretty good.
(, Fri 4 Dec 2009, 14:30, Reply)
Noah and the Whale were excellent when I saw them
but if I had heard the first album first I wouldn't have gone, because it is really quite dreary, which was not how they performed it.

can understand someone flagging after 9 months of touring.

F&TM, I can't get over her voice, it grates me

Who knows!?! My music taste goes through stages. I've recently started listening to albums I haven't touched in years, its quite fun. I've also got rigth back into Fleetwood Mac and The Cars and all manner of weird stuff from the 70s and 80s
