a facebook friend has been posting "Put this as your status if you or somebody you know has suffered BABY LOSS. ♥ The majority won't put it on, because unlike cancer, baby loss is a taboo. ♥ Break the silence. ♥ In Memory of all the ~Angel~ babies gone too soon but never forgotten about" all week.
It makes me angry and I want to slap her.

edit: and apparently I've bullied her into deleting it.

All of these status things annoy me though. Someone just told me to put my shoe size down, write inches after it and follow it with a :( to 'get all the guys guessing.' How stupid do you have to be to think that is funny?

I thought wow...these people are dumb.

Does somebody's face look like a book? Is the skin a bit flaky, so much so that it looks like pages that flutter and fall open at that well thumbed page?

She'll go on a hug sending frenzy and break the website.

"I like breasts" does not go down well when written below a photo of an old platonic female friend who used to go out with one of my best mates and now has a paranoid boyfriend worrying about her playing away while he works in Saudi.

or maybe losing track of your baby "Where did that blasted baby wander to now?"
I'm happy they at least spelled angel and not angle

Usually chained to the washing line. So they can at least run up and down the garden. It's called "progressive parenting".

my cousin's kids are content with running from one side of the house to the other and back....who needs toys?
(, Thu 14 Jan 2010, 21:25, Reply)
So I let him play with the kids. It's only fair.

I'm guessing the girl in question was referring to either miscarriage or cot death.
Like BGB said, not very nice but not really a taboo in my big book of taboo.

A terrifyingly large number of people has written things like "NO! NEVER!", which makes me think that all their kids should be in care.
Or hospital, perhaps on an iron lung.

I gave them all a link to the Daily Fail about swine flu vaccinations and the CONSPIRACY behind it all.
They're bound to believe it.

It's hardly taboo, it's just that I don't feel the need to tell everyone on Facebook that I've had a miscarriage. I wouldn't go round posting "I'm an orphan, pity me" if my parents died either. As for "angel babies", that makes me want to slap people. I won't forget that I lost a baby but I certainly don't consider it an angel - it could well have grown up to be a complete cunt.
(This current foetus of mine is fine, by the way, so far, despite 4 bloody scares. 25 weeks to go and I've never worried about or wanted something so much in my life.)
