Yay, back online, with my phone though.
Cheers everyone fir those messages and kind text/Gaz bits'n'bobs

Turns out I have two types of gut aids, at the moment which is quite "=/", but I'm much better than I was a few days ago, and hopefully I can start having a bite to eat later. I've had so many holes punctured in me that aside the bruises, they don't bother me that much anymore (still ain't looking at them stick things under my skin though).

I got a free upgrade to the private ward where I have my own amazing telly (but the signal broke earlier... Best fix that before hollyoaks), and an amazing view of hampstead Heath, plus the bed has buttons that let me move it up and down, that's hours of boredom starved off right there.

Anyway, how's things going with you?

(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 13:54, Reply)
I said, "I like breasts, I thought you should know"
She said "thanks, there my best feature" (sic)

I made prawn chowder last night
soup made of spring onion, sweetcorn and vegetable stock, with prawns in it. Served with crispy bacon bits and a big lump of mashed potato in the middle.

delicious.

this may not be what you want to hear with your gut aids....
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 13:54, Reply)
Mash in soup?
*notes down*
*not prawns though*
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 13:56, Reply)
also good in soup
poached egg
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 13:59, Reply)
I agree

(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 14:06, Reply)
Did it not mix with the mash and go like runny mash?
Like when you put too much milk in mash.
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 13:56, Reply)
not in the slightest
the soup was quite thick because I turned the sweetcorn into a thick paste in the food processor.
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 13:59, Reply)
Sounds interesting. I made a nice corn chowder this weekend that turned out well.
(Used salt pork instead of bacon; probably less health but tastes better).
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 14:03, Reply)
that sounds good
I'm quite a fan of soups and chowders
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 14:03, Reply)
Good winter food

(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 14:05, Reply)
I'm imagining everyone in this sub-thread
Saying "chowder" like Mayor Quimby from the Simpsons.
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 14:12, Reply)
that's how I imagine it too :-D

(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 14:12, Reply)
Is there any other way to say it?

(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 14:17, Reply)

shh-ow*-dair

(*to rhyme with how)
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 14:32, Reply)
I say it like Paul Simon says it in 'Duncan'.

(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 15:02, Reply)
What, like this:
'woooah ooga booga, I am African'?
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 16:33, Reply)
what an irrelevant and cockish thing to say

(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 16:41, Reply)
haha, merely fulfilling my destiny...

(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 16:53, Reply)
search your feelings
you know it to be true
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 17:03, Reply)
I say it to rhyme with 'powder'
You know, the correct way.
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 16:09, Reply)
so do most people
the above was a description of how a snooty french waiter says it in an episode of the simpsons

the Mayor Quimby thing was about the accent, not the pronunciation
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 16:16, Reply)
Good.
Sometimes you can pick up incorrect pronunciations and not know it: my father, bless him, insists on pronouncing 'nachos' like a fucking Greek island.
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 16:51, Reply)
god, my dad prounces some things terribly
as do his parents. makes me want to slap them
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 17:00, Reply)
My father does it deliberately sometimes,
I am certain, to give the impression of ignorance about something he disapproves of, even though he knows perfectly well how it's said.

I'm struggling to think of an example - band names or popular culture stuff generally. Rather like the Fry & Laurie sketch where they go on about 'that ghastly Mervyn Briggs', meaning Melvyn Bragg.

As irrelevant posts go this is a corker.
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 17:03, Reply)
that's the sort of thing my dad would do
he loves to describe things as 4th rate. The day I find myself doing that I will seriously think about ending it all.
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 17:07, Reply)
Oh man, I'd be up for a bit of that.
Going to have some hienz tomarto soup for dinner, hopefully. That with a dash of tobasco and you can't go wrong.
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 15:24, Reply)
Gonz!
Welcome back dude.
Did you take some pictures from the room?
Have you been reading about Bomb Dogs?
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 13:55, Reply)
Any cute nurses?
Do the nurses act like they do in the porn movies?
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 14:04, Reply)
Maybe it was your food.
Do they have griddled meals in hospital?
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 13:55, Reply)
Oh dear, I suffer with my tummy too.
Remember that no matter what happens, you have a friend in Jebus.
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 13:55, Reply)
I'm not too bad, ta.
Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better.
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 13:56, Reply)
If you weren't browsing on your phone, I'd post the Fat Gonz* picture I found the other day
to remind you that a brief rest from food might not be such a bad thing. I shall have to save it for your first food thread once you're recovered.

Glad you're doing better, bud.

Hey Gonz.
I thought I saw a dog yesterday, but it turned out to be a particularly ugly pigeon. It made me think of you.

Glad you're on the mend. Are you officially a cyborg now?
