There was a programme on Sky 3 last night called Fat pets.
There is nothing in this world funnier than a cat that is wider than it is long. The owner, (who was in his sixties), was trying to get the cat to exercise by throwing various cat toys as it. It looked at him with utter contempt.

In his defence he does eat for six - he catches rabbits, pheasants, pigeons, rats and anything else he can lay his paws on - he caught a grass snake once and has killed a couple of weasels too.

When I was living there I made sure I always kept on this cat's good side - he'd have your arm off if he decided he didn't like you!

I had a fat cat once.
I used to chase it up trees for entertainment exercise purposes. It would take a huge leap, stick to the tree for about twenty seconds with increasingly frantic scrabbling, then slide down to ground level before running off to sulk in a hedge.
