I have purchased a shiny new laptop which means I can now go on a spending spree of buying shit £5 point and click games from the past to fill my hard drive, this is most good!!
What is most good in your world today?

There's a site called 'abandonia,' or something like that which has loads of classics going for free. I managed to Civ I and II off there, along with a handful of others. Think I managed to get Jill of the Jungle and Jazz Jackrabbit off there as well...just google 'free dos games' and you might be pleasantly surprised.

But that was a different website...

it's awesome

Yes please, I have it on the iPhone but its annoying me on the tiny screen!
(, Wed 24 Feb 2010, 11:39, Reply)
so I remember to send it to you

if, like me, you remember the aforementioned Jill of the Jungle as a childhood favourite, you may want to search for the two sequals. They're a little harder to track down, but out there somewhere to download for free...my search, however, did lead me to the most wonderfully Aspergers-ridden page that some poor lonely fan has created, detailing all the different releases of these games and possibly revealing an unhealthy obsession with the main protagonist... (SFW, I seem to remember, but not something I want to search for on my work computer)

But it was bloody difficult...I'm sure I once got to the stage where you're supposed to mount an attack on the aliens' home planet but I couldn't work out how to get there.

I think I may have been even worse than you. It was a bit TOO difficult though in that your attacks in the action sequences were largely determined by chance, and how 1 hit from certain creatures could kill your star "players" that had taken hours to develop.
It was great naming your guys and building up the attributes though. Also there's nothing better than RPG-ing a house and blowing the entire front wall off.

Still, it's good to know that everyone else struggled with it as I did! I think even on 'easy' that one was too hard for its own good.

there's lots of old point and click games on there that are free, and if not then it'll point you to a place to buy them.
(, Wed 24 Feb 2010, 10:55, Reply)
Thank you muchly! I never knew these places existed, I have been denied point and click action due to the lack of a PC.
I am also still awaiting the release of Alan Wake! *gibbers*

And I'm still laughing about it now, superb film!

Point and Click games are those silly games where you run around collecting various pieces of crap that aid you in solving clues. You also question EVERYONE and usually the other characters are complete plonkers and you can only move on to a different scene when you have asked a person everything possible. They are daft games but I love them! :D

So like a futuristic version of logic puzzles from Puzzler magazine, but with fleshed out characters?
Am I getting this all wrong?
(, Wed 24 Feb 2010, 11:38, Reply)
There's usually something going on in the plot like a murderer is on the loose and you have to run around solving clues etc, Wiki Broken Sword, that's a brill point and click! :D

I'm most of the way through my second go at the moment, got all the upgrades and a full garden, the lot. It's well worth completing it if you haven't already.

it's grey, miserable, I'm at work and have to go to a meeting tonight that I really can't be arsed about.
The weekend, however, is but around the corner and a horde of b3tans shall descend upon our humble abode in honour of my Missus' birthday. Which is today, incidentally - and she's off work poorly with a throat infection and earache. Which is not good.
(, Wed 24 Feb 2010, 11:51, Reply)
I hope the missus feels better, theres nothing worse than feeling sick on your birthday... well... possibly feeling sick on Christmas day when you have all the family around! :S
(, Wed 24 Feb 2010, 11:58, Reply)
but wants to fit and well for the b3tan invasion at the weekend, so hopefully a day of rest and drugs will stave it off before it develops into something nasty.

My son recommends Discworld Noir, an homage to The Maltese Falcon.
